Great advice that never ages from DermAware Bio-Targeted Skincare owner & creator, Gul Zone... Thanks, Gul!
Question from Erin Age 39:
β I think that exfoliation dries out my skin. I am afraid to exfoliate as I feel that I am sensitive. Should I skip exfoliation?"
I get some form of this question and comment very regularly. It comes from a wide range of ages starting with teens to more mature individuals.
The answer is simple: NEVER skip exfoliation. Choose the correct type of exfoliation for your skin type because exfoliation actually increases hydration and can reduce inflammation to the skin.
#1 Take It Easy. Don't over- exfoliate. DermAware offers several exfoliating cleansers and recommends using them at night. This type of exfoliation only stays on the skin for a minute or two. If your skin is very dry and sensitive use Anti-Oxidant Cleanser with Lactic Citrus or Foaming Cream Cleanser with Salicylic Raspberry. Or even a stronger cleanser ( Saving Face, Deep and Clear or Wrinkle Free). Leave it on the skin for a short term to allow the ingredients to work and then remove.
#2 Let the healing enzymes digest . Rather than using abrasive scrubs that can rub your skin raw or even tear skin, use soft scrubs or enzymes. Let the enzymes in Bare Fruit Enzyme Mask gently digest and lift off that top layer of old skin cells. Use Nitty Gritty with colloidal oats to soothe your skin as they exfoliate. Your skin will actually feel super moist and appear less red and sensitive afterwards. This is a must have step for all.
#3 Use a night time gentle peel. Our End of the Line Lotions and Gels are designed to increase hydration and glow by stimulating both epidermal and dermal rejuvenation. Use the Gentle strength. The Lotion is for dry and the Gel for oily/ acne prone individuals. Beautiful and Healthy Skin individualized for your specific skin type and concern. View your regimen www.dermaware.com
