Hello Friends,
Wanted to do one more post before I hand it back to Carolyn. I know, you are like, hurry up and give it back, and I don't blame you all. I have a whole new respect for the creativity and time that she puts into this.
Wanted to share an experience I had today with Summit and Daisy. We went for a trail run this morning, something that Summit and I have been doing for years, and a few months ago Daisy was old enough to join us. This is one of my favorite ways to embrace my Outside. Trail running and hiking are definitely my happy place, but today was a little different. Summit has always enjoyed jumping on big rocks or logs along our runs & hikes. This morning, he jumped on one of his usual rocks, looking so proud. It reminded me that when we first started running this trail, there were days I couldn't bring him, and my times would be so much faster. Watching this morning made me realize that something had changed. I enjoyed being with the two of them, giving them treats when they jumped on the rocks, and seeing how proud they were for accomplishing their trick. This is a big change for me, as so much of my life was about competing and getting that PR. This morning, I smiled as I acknowledged that I got my PR 20 years ago, but today I got something else — the joy of being with my best friends, enjoying an absolutely beautiful day Outside, worth so much more than a PR. It gives me hope that you can teach this old dog new tricks.
Will I stop being overly competitive? Probably not, but at least when I am outside, I can let go and enjoy the beauty with friendship, laughter, and respect.
Before I go, I want to personally thank all of you, for your support. We couldn’t be making this dream of ours come true, without it, and every day we are grateful.
Now, go enjoy your weekend, find somewhere to Embrace Your Outside! And always Stay Wyld! Cheers — Christopher, "kickr", Do
