NEW at Modern Munchkin: Free Craft Friday! 🎨✂️💗

We’re adding a little more creativity to the first Friday of every month!

Free Craft Friday is our new monthly series featuring a different family-friendly craft that Munchkins can stop in and create right here at MM, completely FREE. ✨

Crafts will be simple, fun and designed to meet little makers at their skill level. Most will take about 10–15 minutes and are best suited for ages 2–9. No RSVP needed, just come create with us!

And it all starts TOMORROW! 🙌

🔖 September’s Craft: Make Your Own Bookmark

Munchkins can design and decorate their very own bookmark, complete with a yarn tassel to finish it off!

Bring the Munchkins by tomorrow and let those creative juices flow. We’ll have everything you need waiting at the shop.

Why We Love: Tender Leaf Toys 💕🌿

At Modern Munchkin, we believe the best toys do more than entertain. They help children grow.

And Tender Leaf Toys checks so many of the boxes we look for when choosing what earns a spot on our shelves ✅

Their beautiful wooden toys are designed to encourage open-ended, imaginative play, giving Munchkins the freedom to create their own little worlds, stories and adventures. A cottage becomes home to a tiny woodland family. A milkshake truck opens for business. A babyccino maker turns the playroom into the cutest café in town. ☕🍓🏡

And we love what goes into making them, too. Their toys are hand-painted, assembled and checked in the same family-run factory in Indonesia, with a focus on making pieces that are safe, durable and meant to last.

But our favorite part might be just how beautifully simple they are. No screens. No flashing lights. No instructions telling a child exactly how to play. Just thoughtfully designed toys and plenty of room for imagination!

Fresh flowers at Modern Munchkin? YES, PLEASE. Stop by and shop beautiful locally grown blooms from Mist & Mallow and shop local businesses alongside the Flower Market.

👶 9/18 | Bloom Baby: Baby Bellies
We’re welcoming Bloom Baby for a special class designed for our littlest Munchkins and their grown-ups. Registration required.

🍂 9/19 | Fall Munchkin Makers Market
Our first seasonal Munchkin Makers Market is bringing even more local creativity to the shop, featuring Lil Art + Captain Cook Hat Bar! Come shop small, make something fun and spend the morning with us. 💕

Modern Munchkin Moments 🫖💕

Tea for one? Tea for two? Around here, there’s always room for one more. 🥹

We love watching Munchkins make themselves right at home in our shop. A little tea party becomes a chance to pour, serve, imagine and create a whole story of their own.

It’s why we keep demo toys out and ready for play. Sometimes you have to sit down, pour a pretend cup of tea and see where your imagination takes you. 💗

Here’s to slow Sundays, sweet little moments and always making time for tea. 🫖✨

Why We Love: Watercolor Art 🎨💧

There’s something extra special about watercolors. They invite Munchkins to slow down, experiment and discover what happens when a little water, a little color and a whole lot of imagination come together! 💕

We love that there’s no one “right” way to watercolor. Colors can blend, bleed and surprise you along the way, giving little artists the freedom to explore without worrying about making everything perfect.

And one of our very favorite ways to introduce watercolor? Our Watercolor Workbooks, which we JUST RESTOCKED! ✨

These beautiful workbooks by Emily Lex Studio make painting feel approachable, with pre-outlined illustrations and simple step-by-step instructions that guide you through each painting. They’re lovely for beginners, but we have a feeling plenty of grown-up Munchkins will want to pull up a chair and paint, too. 😉

We have watercolor fun for all kinds of artists in the shop, from guided kits and paint-by-number projects to paints, brushes and plenty of creative ways to get started.

Why We Love: SPEKS ✨

Consider this your reminder that fidget toys can be very cool. 😎

We love carrying SPEKS because they take sensory play and give it a fresh, modern spin. From soft silicone fidget magnets and sensory stickers to satisfying putty and their endlessly fidgetable Flexagons, these are the kind of little things you pick up and have a hard time putting back down. 😂

They’re great for busy hands, quiet moments, desk drawers, backpacks and those times when everyone could use something satisfying to squish, click, twist or fidget with. 💜

And while we stock plenty of toys for our littlest Munchkins, SPEKS is proof that play doesn’t have an age limit. We have a feeling the grown-ups might love this shelf just as much. 😉

A little Tooth Fairy magic 🧚‍♀️🦷✨

One of my favorite things about being a mom is getting to make the little milestones feel BIG. Losing a tooth is one of those moments. The excitement over a wiggly tooth, carefully placing it somewhere safe before bed, and waking up to see if the Tooth Fairy came... it’s just childhood magic. 💗

These are my kiddos with their own Tooth Fairy pillows, and I love that we get to carry them at Modern Munchkin, too. The Mon Ami pillows have a tiny pocket for the lost tooth and whatever little treasure the Tooth Fairy leaves behind. Our butterfly even comes with her own mini fairy friend. 🦋

I know these years go by way too fast, so I’m always looking for little ways to make the milestones feel special while we’re in them.

If you have a wiggly tooth in your house, we have Tooth Fairy pillows waiting in the shop. 🦷💕
