There’s something so special about reminding our little ones—and ourselves—that they are already amazing just as they are.

Whether it’s tucked into a lunchbox, shared before school, or whispered at bedtime… these little words stick. They build confidence. They shape identity. They remind our kids that they are seen, loved, and celebrated 💫

Lilly gives me the theme and then I play around until I’m able to bring a full set to life—and I absolutely LOVE how much joy it brings her 💛

That’s really what this is all about… those little moments that remind our kids just how special they are.

I’ll be honest… I haven’t been the most consistent when it comes to posting on Facebook lately.

But what I have been consistent with? Showing up every single day for my baby girl with some Lunchbox Love💛

For almost an entire school year now, I’ve been creating and leaving her daily lunchbox motivation—and that, for me, is a big accomplishment. Not just because I stuck with something (which is huge), but because of what it represents.

Every note, every message, every little moment… has been me pouring into her confidence, her identity, and her inner self-love.

Right now we’re in our “Cute Animals” era 🦎🦋🐻 and I have to say… this set has been SO fun to create! Seeing her smile, knowing she’s reminded daily that she’s amazing just the way she is—it’s everything.

Consistency doesn’t always look loud or public.
Sometimes it looks like quiet love, shown daily.

And I’m really proud of that. 💫

✨ One Week Away: MLK Day is a Day ON, Not a Day Off ✨

With MLK Day just one week away, we wanted to share a few reminders—and ideas—about why this day matters so much.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed deeply in service, unity, and collective action. MLK Day is a powerful opportunity to live out his legacy by serving together—as families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.

💛 Why volunteer together?
When children see service modeled, it teaches empathy, responsibility, and the importance of community. When adults serve side by side, it strengthens bonds and reminds us that change happens through shared effort.

Here are a few simple ways to serve together next week:
✔ Volunteer at a local food pantry or shelter
✔ Write encouragement cards for seniors, teachers, or healthcare workers
✔ Clean up a neighborhood park or playground
✔ Create care kits for those in need
✔ Support a Black-owned business with intention

Service doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful—it just has to be done with heart.

As women, we often pour so much into others that we forget the power of simply being ourselves. But imagine what the world would look like if every little girl grew up knowing she didn’t have to be perfect — just present, kind, and true to who she is.

At Brown and Busy, we believe one of the most powerful lessons we can teach our daughters is that their value isn’t earned — it’s inherent.
When we model self-love, confidence, and purpose, we give them permission to do the same.

🌿 Sunday Moments: School’s Out, Memories Are In!

Many schools are closed tomorrow for Indigenous Peoples’ Day, which means an extra day to slow down, reconnect, and make memories with your little ones. 💛

Here are a few Brown & Busy–approved ideas to fill the day with joy and togetherness:

🍂 Nature Walk & Story Time – Take a stroll and talk about the beauty of creation. Bring a notebook so your child can sketch or write what they see.

🎨 Cultural Craft – Learn about Indigenous art styles and create simple crafts like painted rocks or woven bracelets.

🍳 Cook Together – Try a new recipe as a family — maybe pancakes with fruit faces or homemade bread rolls! (You know we love kitchen bonding time. 🥰)

🎶 Dance Break – Turn up your favorite playlist and let the kids lead a living-room dance party!

🧺 Family Picnic – Whether indoors or out, spread a blanket, pack snacks, and share what you’re thankful for this season.

Perfection doesn’t make great parents — presence does.

What a beautiful reminder that even in our imperfections, God can use us to shape loving, resilient hearts. 💛

Our kids don’t need us to have it all figured out. They need to see us growing, reflecting, and loving through the messy moments.

Parenting isn’t about perfection — it’s about showing up with grace, learning from our mistakes, and letting His love guide us as we grow. 🙌

Let’s trade “perfect” for “present” — because that’s where the real connection happens. Give yourself permission to reflect, reset, and love through it all.
