When he gets a creative idea to add everyday objects to his car’s plain exterior, Arthur is noticed for the first time around town. Neighbors and other bystanders add their own artistic flair to the car, too. What happens when Arthur enters his bedazzled art car in the town’s parade? In this whimsical story about an art car, children learn about recycling, community, friendship building, and the p
ower of imagination. The book also includes a page called "The History of Art Cars" for readers who don't know about this creative form of artistic expression. Author Cathey Graham Nickell lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband, Kevin, her teenage son, Will, and a dog named Cricket. She also has three grown children -- Mason, Pamela, and Katie. Cathey doesn't drive an art car herself, but she has a habit of covering the back of her SUV with bumper stickers! She also snaps pictures of art cars, which are plentiful in Houston, when she seems them. Cathey's all-time favorite car was the bright-yellow Volkswagen Beetle that her grandmother drove in the 1970s. Talented Houston illustrator, Bill Megenhardt, brought the Arthur Zarr of Cathey's imagination to life. The hardcover book launched Nov. 3, 2015. "Arthur Zarr's Amazing Art Car" is Cathey's first children's book. Find her online at www.catheynickell.com or write her at [email protected]. She loves hearing from new acquaintances!
