Awwww I'm so glad he is alive! Shows that animals truly do have feelings.

repost from History District An emotional moment of a mother elephant seal who looked desperate after giving birth to her baby on a beach. In the footage, the mother continues to sniff and examine the body of her baby which was initially stiff, still, and showed no signs of life, so it was strongly suspected that it was stillborn.

However, the tense atmosphere immediately turned into a miracle when the baby's tiny body suddenly moved and made its first sound. Realizing that her baby was alive, the mother elephant seal immediately showed extraordinary reactions, ranging from a surprised expression to a warm, joyful hug that managed to touch the hearts of millions of netizens on various social media platforms.

Scientifically, this critical moment is very crucial for marine mammals. Immediately after giving birth, the mother elephant seal relies on its distinctive sounds and intensive smell to recognize and build a strong bond with its baby so that it does not get separated in the middle of a dense and noisy coastal colony.

Goddess of Spring, 1934 (Disney)

repost from The Goddess of Spring

The Goddess of Spring is a 9-minute Silly Symphonies animated Disney short film. Unlike most Symphonies produced at the time, usually comedic, the short contains operatic themes and is often cited as melodramatic. It was released in 1934, and its production was important to the development of the later full-length Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' style and animation, particularly regarding the usage of the rotoscoping technique for realistically-proportioned characters.

repost from History obsession 💃 At 102, She Watched Her Younger Self Dance Again.

In a deeply moving moment, a 102-year-old dancer was shown long-lost recordings of herself performing decades earlier. Preservationists brought the recovered footage to her nursing home, allowing her to see a younger version of herself on screen for what may have been the first time in many years.

The recordings connected her to a remarkable chapter of American cultural history, including the Harlem Renaissance, when she performed in nightclubs, commercials, and musical films known as soundies. As she watched the footage, her reaction captured something far more meaningful than simple nostalgia.

She wasn't just watching an old performance—she was reconnecting with a part of her own life that had been preserved through time. Moments like this show why historical archives matter: they can return forgotten memories to the people who lived them and allow future generations to experience stories that might otherwise disappear.

Don't miss to follow for more updates.
