Bridal season… it never truly ends, just waxes and wanes. I may have a few weeks off, during the holidays. But then it picks right back up again!

Instead of getting out and about today with the kids (polar vortex), I opted to stay in and work on a few projects.

This lovely bride needed a little extra coverage in the back to help hide undergarments, and offer comfort/cushion from the scratchy tulle on the bodice.

One thing that’s incredibly important is to have my brides spend a decent amount of time IN their dresses so that we can address any comfort issues before the big day!

I’ve patterned some mesh in as close of skin tone to hers as I could. She’ll come for follow up fitting in a few days.

Binding…. I know everyone who quilts has their own preferred wag of doing binding… this is how I do it. 2in wide. Single layer. I don’t double it. (To me it makes it too thick, and I don’t care for that look or feel in a quilt.) I like to finish it off by hand sewing it to the back. It’s another personal touch.

No, it’s not déjà vu! And no you’re not seeing double… well, maybe you are, but yes, there are two semi-identical quilts I made for two boys who are brothers! The 3rd quilt is my own son’s quilt that I started a DECADE ago! And finally got it on the longarm! All three quilts are made mostly of the same fabrics, with a few added colors. (I didn’t know what I was doing and waaaayy overbought fabrics back then!) I’m glad to be able to utilize these bright and cheery fabrics for two very special little boys!

As promised!!! Here is the whole cloth Dino quilt that I made for my nephew! He loved it! But I think his dad might have loved it more! It’s a very soft and hefty blanket! Not weighted per-say, but made with heavier materials. Which make it feel substantial!

I think it was a win!!

Well, here it is! Fresh off the longarm!

I had taken a break from quilting to grab a snack, and meet a client for bridal alterations. She’s a fellow crafter, and I got to show her how this lovely machine works!

Maybe at some point I’ll be able to share before and after photos of her dress. It’s gorgeous! But not allowed to share, yet!

Setting up and running a new quilt this afternoon while I count the hours until my second bridal fitting of the year! I absolutely love BOTH kinds of sewing! They take vastly different skill sets.

Maybe I need to post more bridal too. This will be interesting.

This… very much this. I love what I do. Bridal alterations, quilting, sewing specialties. But!! I also crave simplicity.

I don’t want hustle, I don’t want chaos. I want to do what I love, and get paid for it.

Only took me 10….. TEN YEARS… to finally get this beauty quilted! I made this quilt for my oldest in Sept 2016! He is now 14, and no longer interested in trains… BUT, I’m still going to make him use this quilt until I can make him another one! He requested a Minecraft quilt. He’ll be helping me make it!!

Thanks a million to for their beautiful quilt pattern, and lovely tutorial all those years ago! 😘😘

Only took all day, but it’s done! Now I can go to bed! Tomorrow is supposed to bring snow, and wind. I might just be staying home!
