This is beautiful to see and I agree symbols are meaningful.
But I’d love to see the conversation expand beyond this.
Conflict gets clicks. Outrage sells ads. But those same outlets and influencers making Boonton a polarizing headline rarely show up for the people here actually building community.
Boonton’s diversity is not theoretical. It’s already here.
LGBTQAI+ people are here. BIPOC people are here. Immigrant families are here. Artists, small business owners, workers, healers, creators, parents, students, neighbors, and community builders are here.
We are in the streets. In the art. In the shops. In the buildings. In the food. In the events. In the conversations. In the classrooms. In the families. In the people who make this town what it is.
When the conversation fixates on one symbol, it can flatten the reality of this town and make Boonton look less welcoming, less diverse, and less vibrant than it actually is.
Symbols matter. Visibility matters.
But showing up matters more.
Explore here. Support inclusive businesses. Attend events. Celebrate the people building community.
Diversity is woven into Boonton.
