You’re not being thorough 😳 This is the same hoodie on the same rack during the same sale on the same day. One price tag says it’s $35 and the other says it’s $21.

Wait what? How does this happen?

Sometimes employees that are responsible for price marking items don’t finish their job.

This happens a lot. There are thousands of items to price daily. They are human. We all make mistakes.

So if you are only looking at a few of the items on the rack and assuming that’s the price for all….you will miss out.

A $21 Nike hoodie is very profitable on Whatnot with the correct selling strategy. A $35 Nike Hoodie is not.

No excuses. Be thorough when sourcing. You are in control of your wins.

If you have any questions let’s chop it up in the comments ❤️

Source. What. Your. Community. Wants. How do you know what they want? Ask. Them. Write it down and then go find it. Every single successful reseller (that is running their business ethically) has done this. You can too.

We’re in a strangers house because we are on a 5 week road trip with our kids. We rented this house, sourced locally based on what our community wants and sold it all in one stream.

Ask what your community wants? Source it. Sell it. Repeat. Do the work. Don’t over complicate it.

A well thought out question always unlocks the next step.

What questions do you have?

CRUCIAL FIRST STEP 👉 Ask your community what they want then go source the following. Skipping this step will surely lead you to sourcing the wrong items.

After you have asked your specific community then look for these in the sizes YOUR COMMUNITY wants

Hoodies (Best Case Full Zip)
Crewnecks (Best Case Embroidered Logo)
Joggers (Best Case Zipper Pockets)
Sweatpants (Best Case Three Pockets)
Leggings (Best Case Full Length w/pockets)

These items sell all year long from buyers in all climates.

Best case scenario source matching sets but sell them individually (top and bottom separately)

Keep your average buy cost at $25 and under

Marketing verbiage for each sale can be tricky. Look for prices that end in .97….this almost always means there is a steep discount on top of the lowest ticket price.

As you walk in the door find an employee or manager and confirm with them the bulk buying limits and where they would like you to put your purchases. Some outlets want you to carry them around in the black Nike Shopping Tote Bags and some want you to put them at a closed register as you shop.

Most locations have a standard rule that says you can purchase a quantity of 5 per item and a total quantity of 30 items per person per day. BUT each location has the right to change the rules at anytime.

Because we lead by asking our community what they specifically want to spend their hard earned money on AND because we do higher starts (No $1 Auctions) this exact model repeated over and over has lead to us making way more money than we need to support our family. It’s also helped us build a genuine community on Whatnot.

This system creates consistent, predictable, scalable profit all year long.

Every Whatnot reseller eventually has to make a choice.

(BONUS TIP : Choice #2 also makes it much easier to build a team down the road)

Choice #1:
Source randomly.
Hope it sells.
Convince people to care.

This is the uphill path.
Every stream feels heavier.
Sales are inconsistent.
Profit depends on luck instead of leverage.

Choice #2:
Open communication with your community.
Ask them what they actually want to spend their hard-earned money on.
Then go source exactly that.

This creates downhill momentum.
Buyers show up ready.
Sales become predictable.
Profit compounds month after month because demand is already proven.

The difference between struggling and scaling isn’t effort.
It’s whether you’re guessing… or listening.

If you want consistency in your profit without longer hours or lower prices, you already know what to do.

If you’re struggling on Whatnot, it’s probably not because your products are bad.
It’s because what you’re saying is too vague.

Your buyer isn’t shopping for “fire deals” or “premium items.”
They’re deciding whether they trust you enough to buy again.

To increase speed of sales on Whatnot:
Specific beats generic. Every time.

When you say “amazing deal” they scroll to the next stream. But when you say, “This is brand new with tags, retail is $85 and you’re getting it tonight for $39” they understand the value instantly.

Less Friction = More Trust

When you say “we sell a lot of these” it’s noise.
When you say, “We sold this same hoodie 36 times last week and we got 5 star reviews across the board” it feels safe to buy.

Never Lie. Use real examples from your business.

If your sales feel slow, don’t talk more.
Just talk clearer.

Here’s the fix….and it’s simple.

Stop selling products. Start selling decisions.
Live buyers don’t want friction. They want relief.
Design your offers where buying quantity makes sense either through bundled shipping or complimentary items….best case scenario it’s both.

Price for behavior, not perfection.
You don’t need max margin per item.
You need healthy margin per minute.

Bundles win because it’s fewer buying decisions, faster checkouts and a higher average order volume per minute.

Respect the buyer. Make the deal obvious.
Make the value easy to understand.
Try not to force math in a live show.

Respect your margins.
Make sure you take into consideration all fees when creating your offers….this includes your rewards program.
If the offer only works without fees, it doesn’t work at all.
This is where you build predictably in your business.

Respect the speed of live selling.
Your best offer should be explainable in under 30 seconds.
If it takes longer, you’re losing momentum and sales.

This is how to scale without burnout, race-to-the-bottom pricing, or gimmicks.

If you’re ONLY selling one item at a time and hoping volume saves you…it won’t.

Better offers will.

If this hits home for you like it has for us make sure to like and save this post. So much more to come 👊
