When we set out to design the Black Cicada sole, we didn’t start with rubber compounds or tread patterns.
We started with a question...
What did humans lose when we lifted our feet off the earth?
For millions of years, every step was a conversation.
Feet reading terrain.
Ground pushing back with information.
A neural dialogue between body and earth that kept us balanced, aware, alive.
Then we built barriers...
Thick, cushioned barriers that silenced that conversation.
So we went back. Way back.
We studied the cicada - a creature that’s survived 200 million years by understanding one thing: strength isn’t about armor.
It’s about adaptation. The cicada wing’s structure, those geometric patterns that somehow balance rigidity and flexibility, became our blueprint.
Every line in this sole is intentional.
The angular patterns mirror natural fractals - the way rivers branch, the way roots spread, the way forces naturally distribute across organic surfaces.
This is geometry that lets your foot flex, adapt, and respond the way it was designed to before we taught it to be passive.
We removed the unnecessary.
Added back what evolution spent millennia perfecting.
Created a sole that protects without disconnecting you from the feedback your nervous system craves.
