Finished up this gavel that is a replica of the gavel used by the current U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives. I found that the gavel currently being used us actually made to look like the one that was given to Nancy Pelosi as the first woman Speaker of the House. Her gavel was donated to the Smithsonian. This also happens to be the same design that I was asked to make for the gavel that was used in HBO's The Penguin.

Olivewood gavel and sounding block set that was shipped out last week to the city of Solana Beach. I was asked to engrave the city's logo on the sounding block and the mayors name and info on the head of the gavel. Filled both with epoxy. Finished with Tung Oil.

Olivewood, from the slow-growing Olea europaea tree, is a dense, hard, and durable hardwood prized for its beautiful, contrasting golden-yellow to brown wood with dark, often wild grain patterns, making it ideal for decorative items, kitchenware, and fine woodworking, though its high movement and tendency to tear out require skill to work with. It finishes to a smooth, glossy luster, resists odors and stains, and is often sustainably harvested from pruned limbs, making it a popular choice for bowls, cutting boards, knife handles, and furniture accents.

Zebrawood gavel and sounding block we completed this last week for a customer. All wording was laser engraved and filled with epoxy.

Zebrawood is a distinctive, exotic hardwood from West Africa known for its striking golden-yellow heartwood with dark brown to black stripes, resembling a zebra's pattern, especially when quartersawn. Shipped out this order for a Desert Ironwood gavel and sounding block set today. This wood is always incredibly beautiful and has amazing color to it.

Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a slow-growing, long-lived tree native to the Sonoran Desert, known for its extremely dense, hard wood and its crucial role as a "nurse plant" that provides shelter and food for many desert species. It's a legume with pea-like flowers, drought-tolerant, and provides food (seeds) and habitat for wildlife, making it a keystone species in its ecosystem.

I put the finishing touches on this huge gavel last night and am shipping it out to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors today! This one was a blast to work on. Laser engraved their logo onto the head of the gavel as well.

Japan! This sounding block order is for a customer from Japan. They ordered it to be made of Desert Ironwood. Customer requested no feet or felt on the bottom, just the block. We have had orders to nearly every state (just missing Delaware) and Canada, but this is our first order that is going overseas!

One the 9 orders going out today. I love how the design on the coffee cups turn out from the laser.
