My story: I was looking for some pretty stitch markers to use with my latest knitting project. What I saw in the stores was not very interesting. On my way home, I went to my local thrift store. Looking at some ear-rings, I thought to myself: “Wouldn’t they make lovely beaded stitch markers for my next knitting project?” With a little work to re-thread the beads and attach a low-snag ring, I created my first ever 'recycled' stitch-marker. And so, my Eco-conscious beaded stitch-marker creations began! Now, I search flea-markets and thrift-stores for bracelets, necklaces and dangling ear-rings with unusual beads. I look for something unique – funky shapes, bright colors, and unusual arrangements. Gathering the beads together, I play with different combinations until inspiration strikes.
