I just purchased the pattern for the Melt the ICE hat and enough red yarn to make 20+ hats. I will be selling hats for $5* plus proof of a donation to the relevant organization of your choice.
The recommended donation is at least $15, and for larger donations, every $20 will enable you to buy a hat. Any donation is eligible as long as it meets these criteria:
1) It is made after you tell me you want a hat. Sorry, no credit for donations you've already made or recurring donations you've already set up -- that was your contribution to the cause, the donation you make for the hat is mine.
2) The organization is doing relevant work. Donations to unrelated causes don't count, no matter how worthy. That said, I'm defining relevant fairly broadly: any organization working to support immigrants, their rights, journalists' rights, or civil rights in general. It can be as local as your church group or as global as Amnesty International. I'll even count campaign contributions to politicians calling for abolishing ICE and holding the entire chain of command accountable.
*$5 is for a hat made with Simply Soft acrylic yarn. If you want baby alpaca or some other non-wool yarn, I'm happy to oblige, but the price will reflect my costs for the yarn you choose.
A Minneapolis knitting shop has resurrected the design of a Norwegian cap worn to protest N**i occupation. Its owner says the money raised from hat pattern sales will support the local immigrant community.
