Some say do not say, “Happy Memorial Day.” However, today we remember the fallen but it is somewhat not a “happy” day. I completely understand and respect that thought process for some people.
Still others say, no, it IS “Happy Memorial Day.” They knew the cost and they died doing what they loved, surrounded by brothers and sisters they loved, and they would want us to be happy and live our lives to the fullest in honor of their sacrifice. So I understand that reasoning as well.
I guess no matter where you fall on the spectrum of these lines of thinking, one thing EVERYONE agrees with is that Memorial Day is a day of Honor and Remembrance to those who have paid the price for our security and freedom with their lives. It’s a day to remember the loved ones they left behind as well. Their sacrifice is ongoing.
So no matter what you’re doing today, please take a moment of silence and give thanks and remembrance for the lives we currently live to those who sacrificed their tomorrows for our today. We owe them a debt we can never repay. 🥲
We are eternally grateful. 🇺🇸
