Today was ribbon cutting of the Old Collins Mule Barn.

And we‘re proud to be one of the shops in the barn not only supporting a dream
but also settled in one of the most central areas of Downtown Waxhaw!

Addressing an often asked question of shop visitors, “how did I get into broom making”, here is some background info.

First off, loving old tools and equipment, I am a frequenter of antique stores. After inadvertently coming across some vintage broom making equipment in 1998 and subsequently learning the basics of it’s operation from a Mennonite broom maker in PA., I found the process surprisingly challenging and quite mentally engaging; plus I was making a useful item with antique equipment! A perfect combination!!

What I initially thought would be a much later in life pass time hobby, moved to the “go to activity” whenever I had any spare time.

After experiencing enthusiastic interest and vigorous sales of brooms at festivals, and related events, I decided to move forward with establishing a heritage broom shop operation.

And now, after having shops in several other locations, in and out of state, I’m here in Waxhaw at my late Great Grandpa’s renovated Livery Stable Barn.
