Day 13
The big day is finally here — Lucas is 10! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who followed our posts and showed interest in learning more about PANS/PANDAS. Keep helping us spread awareness — that would be the best gift for Lucas! 💙

Thank you to the friends who love Lucas simply because he is Lucas — those who never abandoned him, those who love him even through his struggles. We are forever grateful for you.

Thank you to everyone who reached out with kind words — they mean the world to us.

Let’s not take anything for granted. Every little thing we have is a miracle, a gift from God.
When our kids don’t have to live in a hospital — that’s a blessing.
When they can walk up and down the stairs — that’s a blessing.
When they’ve never had to go through bloodwork — that’s a blessing.
Their smiles, their laughter, even when they talk too much and drive us a little crazy — those are blessings too.

Let’s start thanking God every day for the little things, for the good days, and trust that the hard days are there to prepare us for whatever He wants us to do — to bring us closer to Him. 🙏💛

Day 12.

Today’s post is for one of the people who has made the biggest impact on our journey — Tiffany Haines.
She’s walked through the storm of PANDAS with her son, and through years of pain, learning, and faith, she found her purpose in helping others. She became a light for families like ours. Without even knowing us, she gave us her time, her knowledge, and her heart — all because she truly cares.

Her book Wrestling Hurricanes touched us deeply.
Some words from it live rent-free in my heart:

“I know that you deserve a Ph.D. in medicine, critiquing scientific journals, homeopathy, and any other controversial topic regarding your child(ren)’s health.” — p.139

“I know what it feels like to see a thousand specialists, and yet have no one have an answer as to how to help them.” — p.140

“I know the PTSD of fearing the next rage or the next time they stop eating.” — p.140

And when everything feels too heavy to carry, I remember her words:

“But there is One who does know the answers. There is One who holds every tear in His jars.
He will use your pain as someone else’s survival guide. He is doing something new. Don’t you see it?” — p.141

We are forever grateful for the people God places in our path — angels who show up right when hope feels far away.

Day10 and 11 🫣. This journey has taught us that the hardest days often bring the deepest lessons. We’ve learned to celebrate every small victory, to breathe when it feels too heavy, and to trust God even when answers take time.

Fact: PANDAS often develops after a strep infection, when the immune system mistakenly attacks parts of the brain — it’s not the bacteria itself, but the autoimmune reaction that follows.

Today we hold close every family walking this same road. You are not alone. Faith, compassion, and resilience carry us — one day at a time.

⸻

No estás sola.

Day 8: A Silent Pain, A Constant Grace

One of the hardest parts of this journey has been the feeling of isolation. Not because people don’t care—on the contrary, we’ve been surrounded by love.
But how do you explain something so complex, invisible, and ever-changing?
It’s not that others don’t want to understand—it’s that we have often struggled to find the words.
How do you describe the fear of waking up not knowing who your child will be today? The chaos behind closed doors. The pain of watching him fight battles no one else can see.

There have been moments when I’ve cried quietly in the car, carrying a weight that felt impossible to name. I’ve had to try to explain over and over—hoping someone would see what we see.
And still… we keep going. Because when you love, love becomes your strength. Even in the silence, even in the dark, you fight for your child. Every single day.

And during this journey, we’ve also found marvelous people—almost in magical ways that are hard to explain. We feel like God never left us alone.

Just when we felt most defeated, someone would appear—bringing peace, offering hope.
And honestly… only God could do that.
To those people, we are forever thankful.

PANDAS reminder: This condition isn’t always visible. It can come and go. Some children look “fine” on the outside but are battling intense internal struggles—intrusive thoughts, anxiety, OCD, rage, panic, fear. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not real.

————————-

Day 7: One of the biggest turning points in our journey was when we began the antibiotic treatment and followed the recommendations of our functional doctor. Slowly, we started to see improvements—Lucas began sleeping through the night, his appetite returned, his mood became brighter, and he even started liking math! Little by little, we learned to recognize the flares and how to respond.
Today, we also want to celebrate another quiet hero: Lucas’s dad. Every night, he patiently helps with the long routine—supplements, breathing treatments, and all the little things—with endless love and patience. In any family facing these situations, it takes a team. Staying together and keeping a strong faith that things will get better is so important, and he’s been our rock through it all. Lucas’s biggest love, for sure. 💙

Day 6. : Today we celebrate the quiet hero of our journey—Lucas’s amazing sister, Bella. Through all the ups and downs, she’s been by his side, patiently waiting for the better days, and loving him unconditionally. PANDAS doesn’t just affect one child—it affects the whole family, and Bella has shown us what true love and resilience look like. We are so proud of her for being the best sister Lucas could ever have.

Interesting PANDAS fact: PANDAS can cause a wide range of symptoms beyond OCD and tics, including anxiety, mood swings, and even changes in handwriting (this happened to Lucas!)

——————-
