Tribal Crescendo is a beautiful collaboration between Susan Aurinko and painter Arica Hilton Fine Arts, pairing one of Hilton's abstract cobalt blue paintings with a photograph from Aurinko's Reflets series.

Purvis Young was known for his horses, and this scarf has horses 🐴

Purvis Square, the third scarf in our Purvis Young x Susan Aurinko collection, was inspired by Young’s paintings and Aurinko’s Poésie grid card collection.

🖤 INTRODUCING PURVIS LONG 🖤

For the Purvis Long scarf, Susan Aurinko chose one of Young’s drawings of figures in a line.

She repeated it, and then flipped that long row upside down so the figures would be standing on both edges, separating them with a black line to merge at the ends with the border.

Our Purvis Pastel scarf celebrates Purvis Young's work while paying homage to his hometown 🖤

For this scarf, Susan Aurinko took a bright panoramic painting with greens on one end and pinks on the other, and reversed it, cleverly merging the two green ends into a single center that moves outward into the vibrant pink ends. Very Miami (Purvis’ hometown)!

🖤 INTRODUCING THE SUSAN AURINKO x PURVIS YOUNG COLLECTION 🖤

A brand-new silk scarf collection featuring the work of Purvis Young, debuting tonight at the grand opening of the Purvis Young Messenger of Salvation and Liberation exhibition at Zolla/Lieberman Gallery ✨

Through special arrangements with the Larry T. Clemons Collection, Susan Aurinko has secured permission to create a posthumous collaboration with the artist’s work.

Purvis Young (1943–2010), often referred to as the "Picasso of the Ghetto," emerged from the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, FL, where his art transformed discarded materials into profound visual narratives of hope, struggle, and resilience.

Known for his unique fusion of street art and fine art, Young's works feature recurring motifs such as angels, horses, and bustling cityscapes, serving as metaphors for freedom, community, and the human spirit.

Young's association with the Wall of Respect mural in Chicago marked a significant moment in his career, connecting his artistic voice to a broader movement celebrating Black culture and identity. The Wall of Respect, created in 1967 by the Organization of Black American Culture (OBAC), was a symbol of pride and activism, and Young's contribution to this iconic project further cemented his role as a storyteller for marginalized communities.

We are honored to celebrate his legacy with our newest collection. 20% of all profits from the Purvis Young scarves will be donated to Black Metropolis National Heritage Area Commission.
