🖼️ A 600-year-old enigma… hidden in plain sight.

Jan van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait (1434) isn’t just a painting—it’s a puzzle wrapped in symbolism, shadows, and stunning technique.
At first glance, it’s a portrait of a wealthy couple. But look closer... and a 3-inch mirror on the back wall steals the spotlight.
Despite its size, the mirror reflects the entire room—including two mysterious figures and the soft glow of window light.

This tiny circle of glass captured what no camera could—decades before photography even existed.
Van Eyck’s brush didn’t just paint; it observed, magnified, and immortalized with eerie precision.

Let’s do a meet the maker, I’m Melina!
I started Castillo & Co. Jewelry as an official business back in 2017 when I was a senior in undergrad. Though, I have been making jewelry since a young age as gifts for my loved ones.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit.
My first memory is in Mexico trying to sell the fruits in my abuelita’s garden to the people who would pass by.
Another year in Mexico, my friends and I decided to put a little stand and the corner of our street. We sold churros, cheese puffs, candy and beaded jewelry that we made😅
In middle school I would sell rainbow dice bracelets for $5 amongst other random things I would make
Now I’m here! On the internet and sometimes in person, sharing my beaded beauties with you all. Running a business has its challenges, but honestly your support of my art makes it worth it. Thank you for being here, mil gracias❤️
