My current commission is remixing this baby blanket into a full size blanket cause the baby is now a teenager.
My plan is to transition the yarn from the baby blanket into his favorite color... I thought about using moss stitch, because thats a great stich for blending colors,
But I wanted to keep the spirit of the blanket, which is comprised of individual squares sewn together...
I'm going to remixing the squares into rectangles, and blend the colors using mosaic crochet.. this way I can continue to add memories to the blanket as he grows (if she decides she wants to do that) for example in a few years wren he does to prom, I can easily add his prom colors to the mix, then later when he gets married I can add his wedding colors and it will all flow cohesively and seamlessly no mater what the colors are.
It's actually an idea I have been meaning to use for my nibblings...I call them Grow With Me blankets, that become family heirlooms that are entwined with actual memories ๐ฅฐ
I just ordered the yarn I'll need and I'm currently working up swatches to see what size hook will work best. I know some people don't like making swatches cause it prolongs to time it take to finish the project... but i enjoy it because it let's me problem solve my designs, especially if I'm having a hard time deciding on a stitch or hook size. I just consider swatching a part of the creative process โฃ๏ธ
I deeply enjoy being a Crochet Artisan ๐ฅฐ
