The Mediterranean’s Hidden Death Toll

The IOM counted 30,000+ migrant deaths in the Mediterranean over the past decade. The Italian Red Cross says the real number could be 3–6x higher.

Here’s what the data actually shows:

🔴 30,000+ migrants drowned in the Mediterranean over the past decade, per IOM

🔴 100,000–200,000 estimated real death toll, per the Italian Red Cross - accounting for deaths that go unwitnessed and unrecorded

🔴 1,500+ additional people were reported missing at sea in 2025 alone but couldn’t be verified due to restricted access to search-and-rescue data

🔴 270 human remains washed ashore on Mediterranean coasts in 2025 with no link to any known shipwreck

🔴 Countless more never surface at all - IOM confirms many shipwrecks are entirely “invisible,” disappearing with no survivors and no record

🔴 990 deaths already recorded in the Mediterranean in just the first months of 2026 - one of the deadliest starts to a year since 2014

The official count was never the full story. Most of these deaths happen in the dark - no survivors, no witnesses, no headlines.

Hawaa Abdullah, daughter of Amin Abdullah, the security guard who was killed along the two others, honored her father as a role model and the “absolute best dad in the world.”

Today, two gunmen opened fire at the Islamic Center of San Diego - the largest mosque in San Diego County. 3 people killed. Several more injured. A security guard who died helped prevent even greater loss of life.

Police are calling it a hate crime.

This didn’t happen in a vacuum. CAIR reported 8,683 anti-Muslim complaints in 2025 - the highest in their history. Elected officials have called for Muslims to be “destroyed.” This is the environment we’ve built.

Mourn with the community. And then get loud!

Cuba is collapsing because of a U.S. oil blockade - and the world is just watching!

🔴 20+ hour daily blackouts across the island

🔴 2 million people in urgent humanitarian need

🔴 300,000 elderly living alone at risk

🔴 100,000+ people with disabilities affected

🔴 32,000 pregnant women without reliable medical power

🔴 Only 1 Russian oil tanker has reached Cuba since the blockade began

The U.S. is offering $100M in aid — but only if Cuba agrees to political reform. That’s not relief. That’s RANSOM!

The UN calls it a potential “collapse.” Cuba’s people call it survival.

Today marks 78 years of the Nakba - 78 years of displacement, dispossession, and resistance that has never stopped.

In 1948, over 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly expelled from their homes. 530 villages destroyed. 15,000 killed. And the world called it someone else’s independence.

The Nakba didn’t end in 1948. It continues today - in Gaza, in the West Bank, in refugee camps across the region where over 6 million registered Palestinian refugees still wait for a right of return that international law guarantees and the world refuses to enforce.

Memory is resistance. Witness is resistance. We remember because they remain.
