Let's face it. Fear, uncertainty and being stuck in the house over the past 18 months, have made parenting that much more challenging. Here are three quick tips
Creative play. Suggest your children draw pictures of ways your family is staying safe. Make a collage and hang it up to remind everyone. Or, build an indoor fort or castle to keep the germs at bay, bringing in favorite stuffed animals or toys.
Prioritize family time. Many parents now have to balance family duties with working from home, which can create an imbalance with how free time is spent. In other words, spending more time together is a nice notion, but hanging out with your favorite people can become mundane if you don't incorporate creative or new ways to engage. Family movie nights/sleepovers are one of the easiest ways to do this. Get creative! You could make the movie nights themed or even make it special by creating an indoor camping setup! The possibilities are endless!
Encourage self-soothing. Create spaces in your home that are designated for rest/stillness. Use technology like salt lamps, diffusers and white noise machines to encourage mind and sensory regulation and taking breaks. Even your kids can get burned out!
