My experimental piece for a zipper necklace. Inspired by a Van Cleef & Arpels piece estimated at $1.5M. Of course mine is more rugged and rudimentary :) Margot Robbie wore one at the Oscars in 2015.It is thought that the Duchess of Windsor may have been inspired to challenge Van Cleef to create a high jewelry zipper after Elsa Schiaparelli, one of her favorite designers, became the first couturier to use visible zippers in the early 1930s.It took artisans more than 10 years to perfect a fully functioning zipper in precious metals and gems.The first piece was made of gold, diamonds and rubies.

My dog woke me up at 4:30AM today and I couldn't get back to sleep. After tossing and turning, I finally decided I might as well just get up. Too early to get ready for work, I went to my "studio" and created this necklace. My inspiration? The suit jacket I was going to wear for work today.
The necklace is a mix of gold, antique bronze and copper base metal chains with a variety of beads

I created this for my niece who is getting married this year. She wanted something neo-gothic to set off by contrast her classic gown of cream satin and Italian lace.
This piece was created with antique silver and gunmetal with Swarovski elements and crystals. What do you think?
