How to Use Weekly Junk Journal Prompts (and This Week’s Inspiration!)
If you’ve ever sat down with your journal and thought, “Where do I even start?” — you are absolutely not alone. That’s exactly where weekly prompts come in. 💛
Think of prompts as gentle doorways into creativity. They’re not rules, and they’re definitely not assignments — they’re simply little sparks to get your hands moving and your imagination flowing.
Here’s how to use them:
- Pick one prompt (or all three if you’re feeling adventurous!)
- Interpret it your way — there’s no right or wrong
- Use what you already have on hand (scraps, printables, old book pages, stickers, etc.)
- Let go of perfection and follow your curiosity
You can create a full spread, a single tag, a pocket, or even just a small collage. The magic is in showing up and making something.
This Week’s Prompts:
1. “A Secret Garden”
Create a hidden or layered element — a flap, tuck spot, or pocket that reveals something underneath.
Tip: Think about mystery and discovery. Maybe tuck in a tiny note, a quote, or a pressed-looking flower image.
2. “Found & Forgotten”
Use something that feels old, overlooked, or discarded — a scrap you’ve been saving, junk mail, or a torn book page.
Tip: Challenge yourself not to overthink it. Sometimes the most “random” pieces create the most interesting textures and stories.
3. “A Touch of Green”
Incorporate green as your main color — soft sage, deep forest, or anything in between.
Tip: Layer different shades and materials (paper, fabric, ink) to add depth. Green doesn’t have to mean just plants — it can be moody, earthy, or even a little gothic.
If you decide to play along, I’d LOVE to see what you create — feel free to share in the comments or tag me! Let’s inspire each other.
XO,
Lindy
