I don’t normally make posts like this on here but after much encouragement and support from my family to “fight back”, I feel like that’s what I need to do.

About a year and a half ago, I fired an employee. It wasn’t something that I took lightly at all, in fact it took me a while to do it, because this employee and I had grown close.
The last 6 months leading up to that, they acted like a different person.
I felt like I had to walk on eggshells in my own business and they started having a disrespectful attitude towards me… pretty much criticizing everything I did and complaining.
I truly feel like I try my best to accommodate employees schedules, because we all have a life… even when they take off two weeks at a time or have to bring kids to work, I even let employees sell some of their own things in the store to try to help them make more money.
In all my years of having my business, I have never cussed at an employee or treated them with anything but respect. I hope my former employees can attest to that.
I’ve always thought the nicer you are to employees, the better job they’ll do for you.
Did I raise my voice at this former employee when I fired them? Yes!
Did I tell them I was tired of their s**t and no longer needed them and couldn’t take it anymore? Yes! (There’s my cussing at them)
Did I tell them I was tired of being disrespected? Absolutely!
I will not deny that… could I have handled it more professionally? Of course. That was the 1 and only time I had ever even raised my voice at them.

But…. Everything happens for a reason and we move on.

Like I said, this was a year and a half ago and there still continues to be problems every few months over it.

Life is too short, small business is hard for everyone….. so instead of constant drama, let’s all respect one another and move on 🩷
