BEHIND THE SCENES

Not everyone gets to experience what goes on behind the scenes in these worlds.

Whether it's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the traditions of Bushido, superbikes or Harley-Davidsons, there's an entire culture of craftsmanship, preparation, skill and investment that most people never get to see.

Take motorcycle racing, for example. A premium kangaroo-leather racing suit with integrated airbag technology can cost upwards of $5,200. And that's just one piece of equipment. Most people would never imagine the level of engineering, technology and preparation involved in this sport.

But that's part of what makes these disciplines so fascinating. The deeper you go, the more you discover. What looks like a simple hobby from the outside can become an entire world of education, relationships, experiences and personal development.

I've always enjoyed exploring these different worlds, and I think there's something worth sharing beyond the obvious excitement of riding, training or competing.

Sometimes the stories behind the scenes are just as interesting as the action itself.

THE MAN IN THE ARENA | LORD × LIONS

Theodore Roosevelt once spoke of the man in the arena, whose face is marked by dust, sweat and blood. The one who dares greatly, knowing that victory is never guaranteed, but whose courage places him above those who stand outside and criticize.

Our brother Andy stepped into that arena under difficult circumstances, outweighed and facing an opponent whose conduct challenged the very principles of honor and sportsmanship. But this was never simply about winning a boxing match. It was about something far greater.

A man's character is revealed when his convictions are tested. Andy stood on the principles of respect, honor, duty and love for life, with his faith in Jesus Christ at the center of it all. He understood that some things are worth standing for, regardless of the odds.

This is the heart of LORD × LIONS. We train for more than competition. We develop men and women who understand that courage without character is incomplete, and that the greatest victories are not always recorded on a scoreboard.

The arena reveals what the discipline has built. 💯

Keep your standards high, your circle intentional and your pursuit worthy of the life God has given you. 🦁

WHEN WISDOM IS LOST

The greatest threat to humanity is not a lack of knowledge, but the loss of wisdom to govern it. There is a measure to all things, and when that measure is lost, even our greatest achievements can become instruments of our own decline.

The dojo, the ride and the lift all teach this universal principle. Before we can advance, we must recognize where we stand, understaond the laws governing our discipline and develop the wisdom to apply them. Some must first learn, others must correct their course, and some must reclaim what they have lost.

The ancient Orthodox Church preserves this same call to examination, repentance and growth, grounded in Scripture and Holy Tradition. Truth is not ours to reinvent, but to discover, preserve and faithfully live. The goal is not division, but restoration, for true leadership begins with governing ourselves before attempting to lead others.

A little last-minute, but I didn't want to miss this gathering. We're continuing our leadership teachings on The Altar, exploring the ancient foundations of faith, prayer, sacrifice, obedience, and God's presence in our daily lives.

This gathering is open to everyone, not just our leadership team. If you're seeking knowledge, encouragement, prayer, or simply want to grow alongside others, you're welcome.

We'll continue this series at our First Friday gatherings through February, believing for great things in the lives of those participating and seeking God's presence, guidance, and favor.

LORD × LIONS STUDIO | EPISODE 001

Tomorrow we begin something I have been wanting to build for a long time.
After more than 40 years in martial arts, I’ve learned that technical ability and human development are not always the same thing. A belt can tell us something about what a person has accomplished, but pressure, responsibility and success eventually reveal something much deeper about the person carrying it.

Our first Lord × Lions Studio conversation begins with what is happening in Jiu Jitsu today and asks a question I believe matters far beyond the mat: What should Jiu Jitsu actually produce?

We’ll talk competition, the foundations of Judo, leadership, character, success, responsibility and ultimately what all of this work is supposed to produce in the man.

1st - Orthodox Catholic Church (est.30 ad )

2nd - Roman Catholicism (est. 1054 ad)

44k diff denominations - Protestantism ( est.1517 ad)

This video is exactly why these things need to be addressed. Speaking confidently against Orthodoxy does not make someone knowledgeable about the Church. When false teaching is presented publicly as truth, it should be answered plainly.

Orthodoxy is the ancient Catholic Faith, the Orthodox Church is not another denomination competing with Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. She is the continuation of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church received from the Apostles and preserved through the Fathers.

The word Catholic belonged to the ancient Church centuries before the separation between East and West. And please understand this is not an attack on Roman Catholicism , it is a historical distinction the modern world needs to understand. 👂🏼

And to my protestant brothers and sisters, protestantism did not give you the Bible. The Scriptures were written, copied, proclaimed, defended and received within the ancient Church centuries before the Reformation and before the formal separation of Rome and the Orthodox East. You cannot erase the Church from the history of the Bible and then use that Bible to condemn the historic Church.

This is not about hatred or winning an argument, Truth and salvation are of the utmost importance and before attacking Orthodoxy, study her. Read the Fathers. Study the councils,learn the history of the Bible you are holding.

Then ask the question that matters, what faith did the Apostles hand down, and where has it been faithfully preserved?

☦️ One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and truth has nothing to fear from history. Oss!

God’s thoughts are higher than ours, and His Word does not return empty. Like rain on dry ground, it works within us—correcting our thoughts, changing our direction and producing fruit in time. But we must be willing to listen, turn from our own way and seek the Lord while He is near - (Isaiah 55)

That is the heart of Lord × Lions, forming people who bring discipline to the mat, obedience to their daily lives and service to the Kingdom "The Do". 🛡

The dojo traditions train the body, mind and tests our character;
Scripture teaches us whom we serve and what our lives are for. True leadership begins when we submit ourselves to that work.
