Hat pattern update: longer design to allow a folded brim and added a faux fur pompom available in various colors. This would be made with your yarn that we process, $20 per hat with 6 hat minimum order. Still working on the yarn specifics, and I will do a test with 100% alpaca yarn. Working to have this all sorted out by September/October.

This is why you want to shear newborn alpacas a few weeks after they're born. It's called Cria Tipping. The reason this is important is because the fluids from birth remain in the fiber, which then becomes a magnet for debris. The build up of debris is often so severe that the entire fleece needs to be thrown away.

To avoid this, the cria is shorn, or "tipped", meaning the tips of the new cria fleece are shorn off to remove the fluid encrusted fiber a few weeks after its birth. This greatly improves the quality of the resulting fleece that will be shorn a year later.

An alpaca's first fleece is almost always its finest and most valuable. Not cria tipping means most likely taking a total loss on the most valuable part of your alpaca fiber harvest.

Would you like this hat as a product option made wholesale for you by us from your yarn? You would then retail the hats in your shop or at farmers markets, etc. Please leave a comment and let me know! If there is enough interest, I will invest the time to figure out the best yarn weight, exact pattern, etc. I'm expecting pricing would be about $20 per hat wholesale from us. This prototype was made from an 80/20 Rambouillet/alpaca blend. I call it The Bella Beanie 😊

We're not closed! Don't believe Google search, which says we're closed. They keep refusing to change it despite my many efforts to get them to fix it. In fact, we just finished making this yummy Romeldale/Alpaca blend fi*****ng weight yarn.
