Hi, I’m Kacie šŸ¤
I share real life as it is—the beautiful, the messy, and everything in between. Around here you’ll find everyday moments, things I genuinely use and love, and a slower, more intentional way of showing up. Thanks for being here.

This is 730 North of Decatur as of a little bit ago. This photo is looking South toward Decatur. Temps are still supposed to remain below freezing until some time tomorrow. As a former first responder, I ask that everyone please remain in place unless you have an absolute necessary reason to get out, for your safety, as well as the first responders on shift who don’t have a choice to stay in. And yes, I also drive a big 4WD truck but I also am staying exactly where I’m at today, safe and warm! If anyone needs help, please reach out and I’ll do my best to help you, or find you some help!

šŸ¾ January Product of the Month ā„ļø

Purifying Vinegar Rinse

50% MORE PV + 3X VIP POINTS

This is especially great for itchy, flaky scalps, and works wonders for men who use harsh dandruff shampoos. Pair this with our MONAT Black Shampoo + Conditioner, and save your skin, and some money!

Our products are very concentrated, so they don’t take as much to work, which makes them last longer. They also work longer, so you can save time between washes.

While not all ingredients are natural, these products are up to European standards, which are much higher and better regulated than US, and these are the best ingredient options that actually work.

Ask me how you can get this product for less money!

See POTM highlight for the link, or send me a DM to take our hair quiz, and find out if the January product of the month is for youā€¼ļø

We’ve added some new products to the booktique, just in time for the holidays, in the form of haircare, skincare and makeup!

Update for everyone: We are currently parked at home for the time being. I am working as a set medic on three TV shows being filmed in the DFW area, and my boyfriend is working on one, and we both work 5-7 days a week, so our weekends are not free at the moment!

We also are expecting our first baby in May! That being said, I won’t be able to work on set as much, so I am planning to shift the booktique from mobile only, to opening a tiny store front just south of Decatur, where I can continue to deliver books and bookish finds to y’all.

In the meantime, if there is any way I can be of service to you, please! Send me a DM!

There’s something undeniably romantic about wanting to start a family with your partner—but nothing says romantic like telling your partner you’re pregnant, approximately four months into your relationship. Here, I never wanted to have kids—but that was becoming a reality I did not want to change. Each twist and turn has revealed a new slice of everyday life, an echo of my past self, or a view so beautiful it takes your breath away.

From growing up in rural Wise County, to the busy village of New York City lined with cafĆ©s, I choose the streets of Texas that invite me to slow down. It’s in these everyday moments—watching locals greet each other, hearing the courthouse bells ringing in the distance, or catching the scent of fresh air as you leave the city limits that let you begin to feel the true spirit of the country.

Wandering the streets is also a way of connecting with Decatur’s layered past.

You’re walking the same paths as poets, painters, emperors, and revolutionaries. Yet despite their age, these street remain alive—modern, dynamic, and filled with people living their lives in beautiful, open-air harmony. And I can’t wait to raise my future child(ren) here.

Where History and Daily Life Intertwine

In Decatur, history is never far away. Town streets echo with centuries of footsteps, and brick-colored buildings, lean in like old friends sharing secrets. Street corners often surprise you with historical markers, tucked-away churches, or local markets bustling with fresh produce and chatter. From ancient ruins to rebuilt County Seat bliss, the streets are layered with the past while teeming with the life of today.

The Sounds and Scents of Everyday Life

Each street has its own rhythm. In the morning, there’s the hum of espresso machines and the clatter of cafĆ© cups at Trinity Street Coffee. By afternoon, the air fills with the scent of lunch from nearby restaurants. Children play in parks while motorcycles zip past. It’s chaotic, intimate, and endlessly photogenic.

This is the large Texas flag that greets you as you come in to the South side of Decatur, exiting onto Business 287 from US-287.

The author reflects on the blend of romance and reality in starting a family, contrasting their initial reluctance to have children with a newfound excitement. They describe the charm of Decatur, T…

Good morning 940mads!

Just wanted to give you all a little update.. some of you may have noticed we haven’t been to our usual markets lately. For those of you who don’t know, I have a full-time job that requires me to leave home for several months at a time, hence part of the reason I am building a mobile bookstore and online lifestyle brand versus a brick and mortar store right now.

There’s also a potential for relocation to be with my significant other. However, my roots run deep in Wise County, and I still have my whole family there, so I will be back at some point to continue slinging books.

I am working on some different offerings online, with both merch and services, and I’d like to invite you all to shop with me through the links on my Linktree which are accessible by clicking the link in my bio.

Our Instagram will remain active, and I’d love to keep in touch with everyone! We’re so thankful you’re here, and we look forward to counting to evolve and grow as a business with you, whether in person or online!

As always, don’t forget to shop local and support your Wise County businesses!

Where it all started šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

šŸ“ Alvord, TX

Our first market was earlier this year in Alvord, TX, a rural community north of Decatur on 287. We set up in March with the bare minimum, not knowing what to expect or what to do, so we just started talking. Then people started bringing books. Then I had an inventory. Then I started reading more. Then I started stocking new books. Then I opened an eBay store. Then I started selling socks. Then I added in products as the Booktique part of the business developed. Then I started building a website and stocking lifestyle brand items. The business has truly started taking off on its own, which has been great because now I have time to write my own books, freelance write, edit and proofread, and still make time for social posts to connect with all our awesome friends, customers and followers!

So no matter why you’re here or what you’re here for, thank you!

This was our most recent setup in Alvord last Saturday at the June Farmer’s Market! One of the fun things about us, we never have the same set up twice, and our inventory is constantly changing!

Also, we are so excited to be part of the Watermelon Festival and Truck Show coming up in September! What’s better than 18 wheelers and Watermelon?! Stay tuned for more on that!

I had the rest of the summer schedule planned out, but I think there are going to be some changes made, so I’ll just update yall here. But as always, we’re just a call, text or social media message away!

Good FriYAY morning friends! ā˜€ļø

As sure as sands through the hourglass, the only thing constant is change.. and there have been some changes on my end.

I have been working on some things.. there have been some recent changes in personnel in my life.. and in desires in my heart, and it’s time I chase them. The person AND the desires.

I am a passionate photographer/reader/writer, and I have been sharpening the skills I learned on my undergrad minor at Baylor, which was photojournalism. I didn’t complete the minor by one class, simply because my advisor couldn’t justify paying for another semester at Baylor (flat rate tuition for 12 hours OR 18 hours, which is why I took so many classes and had a low GPA which knocked me out of grad school now) but I still love the work, SO. I’m revamping my page from online marketing to paid photojournalism.

This page will still be 940mads Booktique, your favorite community influenced mobile bookstore. We will still be attending pop ups as much as possible, but I am also focusing on getting the Booktique side of my business up and running, because I need to be able to do more online as well, because I do plan for my travel schedule to pick up. However, EXCITING NEWS!! We do have a micro bookstore coming soon! It will be located in Greenwood and open as available. I am ALWAYS available online though and you can get me here or on the website!

My dreams are slowly falling into place, and I’ve set myself up in such a way that I can make MINE come true, instead of someone else’s.

I also restarted as a distributor ( #832728) if you need/want to order from me! You can check out my page over at .senegence.chick.832728

I don’t follow back on every profile because I have them all separate for a reason. Some of my followers want just one part of my crazy life. Others want it all, (like my biggest fan )!!

Thank you to everyone who follows along and has rolled with me through the roller coaster the last three years have been.. and yes, there are still books coming! But as it turns out, it takes a really long time to write a book, and I keep starting new ones! I just have so much to say!

Does anyone have a vendor slot available for this Saturday, June 7 you’d like for us to fill? I was planning to go to Vendors Paradise in Wichita Falls since it was rescheduled from April, but there was a miscommunication and I am not on their list, so I’m just looking for somewhere else to go to spread our bookish cheer!

Here at , recycling, reducing and reusing is very important to us! So are our friends over , so we sent some Socksmith love to Wesley in Ohio, and Joel in Colorado this week! Shout out to them for supporting our Indie bookstore!

Special thanks to Socksmith for using envelopes that are turquoise and hot pink, because if you didn’t notice, those are our inspired brand colors!

Part of the fun in shopping with us is you never know what kind of package you’ll get, but it will always be fun, and almost always recycled!
