Hand-burnished Italian leather. A signed Schumacher shoe. A McQueen collab that stopped me cold.

The PUMA Archives exhibit at the London flagship was a quiet masterclass in the intersection of sport, craft, and fashion history. You don't have to be a sneakerhead or a sports fan to appreciate it.

Full blog post on the Elsa Schiaparelli exhibit at the V&A in London coming soon, but here's a little sneak peek in the meantime. Spot the conservation work on these dresses. That near-seamless textile overlay...chef's kiss! This method is actually the same approach I took on the 1800s bodice I recently worked on. The parallels had me geeking out. ๐Ÿงต

Just landed back home after the most wonderful trip to England; part family time, part research adventure. I connected with dear friends, wandered beautiful spaces, and dug deep into textile research, including a visit with the textile conservator at Royal Museums Greenwich. I'm bursting with things to share. Blog posts coming soon! ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

This beauty is ready to go home.

She's cleaned, her beads are secured, her structure restored, and she's now tucked into a conservation-safe box to keep her protected until she's ready to be loved again.

Some things are worth preserving. ๐Ÿ–ค

Have a piece waiting to be loved again? Let's talk. https://www.heritagetextileconservation.com/contact

What if old clothes held the answers to fashion's future?

Fast fashion is everywhere because itโ€™s affordable, easy, and accessible. And clothing should be accessible. That part isn't the problem.

The problem is what we've stopped asking: How did they make garments that lasted generations? How did those pieces adapt over time? What did they get right that we've forgotten?

Textile conservation isn't just preservation. It's research. Every garment we save is a lesson we get to keep. ๐Ÿ–ค

What do you think we've lost in modern clothing?

A little peek behind the scenes ๐Ÿ”

See the lower area of those cotton swabs? That's from cleaning a purse that looked completely clean (and even shiny) to the naked eye.

Dust accumulates even when you can't see it, and that invisible buildup can cause real damage over time.

That's why every object I work on gets a low-suction vacuum first, no matter how pristine it looks. Wet cleaning comes later, and only when the object can handle it.

The little details matter.

Growing up, both my grandmothers' houses held so many cool things! I could point to any random object and ask: "What's the story behind that?" Even the simplest things had a memory attached and a story to tell. Learning those stories and sharing some of them with my kids is what it's all about. The objects themselves are cool, but the memories and the stories make them special.

My most treasured item? A crocheted blanket my grandma made me in middle school. She made it sitting in her chair, watching a PBS cooking or sewing show. It still gets used in my house today. ๐Ÿงถ

What's the most special item in your home?
