Pillow covers. Not gorgeous, but a lot better to look at than what's underneath. The ties at the end make it look sort of like a sea cucumber. Chain 40 and crochet in the next space, and you have a loop tie that won't come off any time soon.

After a long recovery from injuring my thumb joint, I'm crocheting again. Not hoping to make a going business out of it, but I have ideas to share. I'm not so good at taking pictures and writing posts these days, but let's give it a try.

Second toilet lid cover. The old round ones are easier; this modern one is basically a pentagon with the top three points rounded. I like this result, but I would make the starting chain an inch shorter next time. Definitely better to sit on when it’s cold than a bare seat, and easy to wash.

I need to work on this shape for an oval toilet seat cover, but this one worked. Two colors that go with the bathroom, size J hook or whatever is comfortable for you. Measure the difference between length and width (I’m sure 13 by 17 is standard) and start with a chain that length. Working in rounds, sc in each chain on one side, 3 sc in end, sc down the other side, 3 sc in end. Don’t join or turn, just keep going. Increase 6 sc per round. I think it will actually work out best by sticking with corners on one end and scattering the other four increases pretty evenly. I’ll be working on this. Last row, when it’s big enough, stop in the middle of the back, slip stitch, ch 2, continue working even with (sc in previous sc, ch 1, skip sc) all the way around. Join, cut the yarn and work in the ends. Get a bootlace and lace it through that row. Tie the ends tightly enough that you can barely slip it over the toilet seat. This one worked, but I want to improve the shape next time. I need to make some for the other bathrooms!

Yes, you can crochet leggings. You need to measure, and it takes a bit of math to make them work. Waist, hips, front and back seam of a pair of pants or leggings that fit, and ankle. I made the ankle measurement pretty exact, so I can barely get them over my feet, but then they don’t ride up. I think I’ll use a baby or sport weight next time. These heavy ones are good under loose pants or a skirt. Not too great when it’s windy unless you wear pants over them. I put in pockets because, why not?

Prototype grocery bag to replace those non-woven ones that fall apart after a while. The middle is mesh to save weight, bulk and yarn, but the bottom is more resistant to things falling out. Hand grips, shoulder straps, and I can thread a boot lace through the top to give it a drawstring.

Next time: a smaller hook to make the bottom even less permeable and a larger rectangular bottom to make it stand up better.
