⨠1890s Wrapper Dress: A Touch of Victorian Luxury
Letâs take a quick stroll back to the late Victorian era. Wrapper dresses were the ultimate blend of elegance and practicality â informal gowns worn at home for breakfast, tea, or morning tasks before dressing formally for the day. They often featured dramatic sleeves, intricate collars, and stunning trims, proving that even âcasualâ Victorian fashion was rich with beauty.
For this design, I am bringing history to life with deep red velvet as the base, accented with black velvet for the collar, flounce, piping, and sash belt. The back will feature classic Watteau pleats, creating a regal waterfall effect as you move. This blend of crimson and black velvet evokes power, mystery, and timeless drama â perfect for embodying the grandeur of the 1890s at home or on stage.
