June 19, 20 and 21, 2025 auction.
Here is the tentative schedule...
People can show up whenever they want, no such thing as to early, but if you are here Monday or Tuesday, I may put you to work setting up tables.
Thursday will be an mostly all day swap meet and auction preview and general bu****it and visit session. With the day ending with an open invitation to come to my house and see my collection. I am only 1-1/2" miles from the old school we are having the auction at. My place is no Mark Giles setup, but it is what I can do for now.
Friday morning will be a continuation of swap meet and auction preview until 11am. Some people won't be able to come on Thursday, so there should be new stuff Friday morning. Friday, June 20th at 12:30pm we will start the auction with the choice box lots. There is about 105 of those lots. And then we will start the individual lots (aiming for 2:30) and go through lot #159 on Friday afternoon.
Saturday at 8:30am will be the remainder of the individual lots, starting at lot #160.
Thursday meals will be on your own. Friday we were going to have a food truck, but they aren't easy to get with the Strawberry festival going on near us that weekend, and now we have an hour to an hour and a half break between the end of the swap meet and the auction. We have Kelli's deli and Friends diner right here in town. Kelli's is great for a quick sub. Friends is a great little restaurant for a burger, and a great breakfast. Kelli's too will also be a great place for dinner Friday evening.
There are motels about 15 minutes away, I recommend the ones across from the old Oakdale mall, now called the Oakdale commons. Try to avoid the ones close to Binghamton if you can, that's not such a nice place anymore. There are a couple campgrounds around too, for those that like camping. I was hoping we could park a few in a field here at home if need be, but we are getting rain everyday and unless that stops and we get great drying weather I don't see that as an option now. We might be able to put a few in our driveway area.
this will be a few days of relaxed wrench fun, well, relaxing for everyone else, I will be going crazy making sure it all gets pulled off.
The sale is on HiBid also, and shipping is available. I will ship smaller items, larger stuff such as seats I will transport to a local UPS store for $5 per bidder, not per item, and then it is between you and the UPS store for the cost of shipping. I am out of the equation at the point of drop off. I do know people from all over are coming, talk to them and get your stuff a ride with them.
SHIPPING WILL BE SLOW. I am a one man show doing that part. Plus, we are going with cash and check/money order only. No credit cards, no electronic payment. So I will need a check to clear before I ship. Sunday I will need to clean up the school, so I probably won't start invoicing online buyers until Monday. This is a new venture for me, I need to learn some of the tricks before I will be good at it. If you aren't patient, I prefer you don't participate. It's not that I don't want your bids, I just don't want the headaches of people whining and crying that I don't ship as fast as amazon. We are probably looking at some people being up to 2 weeks after the sale to actually receive the item. Some will be faster. I really would much rather see people make the trip. Orin and John deserve your attendance at the dispersal of their collections.
