After 2 months [and much silent cursing], we finished refurbishing a hoosier-type cabinet that needed quite a bit of help. The tabletop is NOT enamel so we do not recommend using it for making food. It is staged as a linen cupboard but it can just as easily be used as a coffee or drink center, game cupboard, laundry hot spot, snack pantry, shoe room, gift wrap garage….. we’re going to keep staging it until it’s SOLD! But wait, how much are we asking? $275. Yes, it’s on wheels. Yes, those are the original hardware handles and hinges. No, it did not come with a flour sifter. Yes, the acrylic storage pieces go with it, but nothing else in the picture [or inside the drawers or cupboards] are included in the asking price of $275. Snag it soon or wait and see if it is still available during The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed Open House [10% off storewide] Sale June 6 & 7.

In 1930, Clara Adele Rowley Hills commissioned the creation and installation of a stained-glass window to honor her beloved nephew. Aunt Dell wanted to ensure that Private Emmett O. Preston would be remembered for generations. Make no mistake, millions of American service members -- sons, daughters, brother, sisters, mothers, and fathers -- share Emmett’s experiences of duty and steadfast honor that endure in the face of insurmountable odds. They were – and are --hometown heroes with dreams, smiles, and families waiting for their return. Let us be assured that God’s grace fills the voids our heroes leave behind. On this Memorial Day Weekend, as we enjoy the company of family and friends, eat and play games, watch parades and walk in solemn deference through hometown cemeteries, let’s take a moment to say the names of veterans so their lives will have a moment of dignity.

It’s Prom Season in Central New York! Maybe you said “Yes” to your prom dress, but do you have a fabulous evening bag to hold your stuff, or shoes? We have a nice selection in the CLOZY booth at The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed. Did someone forget to order a tux? It’s not too late to snag one from the CLOZY booth. If your guy [or gal!] is more about the rugged look for prom, think about a leather jacket – very Fonz and very cool. NEW THIS WEEK – handmade artisan earrings –- very Boho -- see the display on the chunk of driftwood near the leather jackets. These are one-of-a-kind works of art that you won’t find anywhere else. Finally, as we approach the Memorial Day Weekend, we take a moment to honor those who fought for our freedom with a modest display atop the Buffalo Evening News paper wagon. Thank you to all who serve!

We’re in the final weeks of wedding wear and quickly headed for the 250th USA Celebrations. Our “Leather and Lace” provides plenty of options for Moms AND Dads. Here’s the scoop on what’s new this week in Alpha Omega and CLOZY: additional postcards and travel ephemera, MCM greeting cards [for crafting], vintage textiles [lace & linens], creamers, plus the start of denim jackets and denim jeans. SAVE THE DATES: Saturday & Sunday, June 6th & 7th for the 9th-Year Anniversary Weekend Open House at The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed. 10% off storewide and the Apple Kitchen will be serving YUMMY soups, sandwiches and desserts as usual -- noon-4pm!

We just sold the hoosier-style cabinet and are working on three oak dressers [yay!] and then another hoosier-style cabinet. Keep checking our page for updates on these classic pieces. We are taking our time to be sure they are worth the wait. In the meantime, we have a couple of side tables that whisper Granny-Chic. Maybe they need to sit next to your favorite chair or bedside?

WHO LIKES LEATHER AND LACE???! We just unpacked a nice selection of leather coats and jackets to CLOZY. Guys, here’s your chance for the jacket you wanted for Father’s Day. [hint, hint, hint] Ladies, imagine pairing a sweet lace blouse with a nifty leather [or pleather] crop jacket. It’s a good combo for ever-changing weather conditions. We know spring sports need accessories and we have classic leather baseball and softball gloves [varying prices], field-find golf balls [$5/dozen] and all kinds of baseball caps [$8] to spare your eyes from the glaring sun [when you find it!] As a gentle reminder, all clothes, purses and shoes were donated to our church. We curate, clean and price everything for CLOZY; all sales return to the church for local missions. If you find anything that is damaged, please let us know so we can remove it from our booth. Thank you for your support.

I'm taking a chance with April/May displays featuring Something old, Something new, Something silver, Something blue. A few other vendors in our mall will also have wedding dresses and accessories, plus our mall owner is doing additional advertising. I traded costume items to a local school in exchange for advertising in their playbill. I wish I had thought to get a fashion show together, but weather, family obligations and Easter came on like a storm. Maybe next year. I'm sharing preliminary pics -- I have much more fussing to do with my displays before I'm satisfied. [OK, are we ever really done fussing?] Anyone else have experience with wedding apparel and pricing?

SAVE THE DATE! It’s NOW! We refreshed Alpha Omega with a fabulous display of wedding apparel, including vintage wedding gowns, flower girl dresses and the first of a few tuxedos! Something Old, something, new, something silver, something blue. We’ll be bringing other blue and white dishes next week, along with more bride’s dresses. Invited to a wedding? We think you will find good options at The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed . Please consider looking at the dresses and gowns that Lauriette and Deb offer. We know [REALLY, because we checked] that you cannot find nicer, cleaner or less expensive wedding dresses at any thrift store in Central New York. PLUS all the booths at The Shoppes have gift selections for brides, grooms, attendants, parents, friends, grandparents….. If you wish to have a private try-on wedding dress session, let us know and we will make accommodations.
