Hats So Raven

In the past few months I've acquired several vintage hats for my collection. Some I will embellish; others will join the "permanent collection". Sources: friends, garage sales, Piccadilly flea market. One was *given* to me by a garage saler when she saw that I appreciated it!

And here's another interesting thrift store find. Somehow iridescent taupe is not a color scheme I had ever envisioned...but this sequined creation has unexpected flashes of pink and aqua! Whereas the lace lining and dusty peach edging seem a big more old fashioned. 1950s-60s, perhaps?

Here's an interestingly sculptural vintage wool hat in royal purple that I found while thrifting. I estimate it from approximately the 1940s-50s. I am fairly certain that the bead applique was not original; it appears to have been cut from a dress and doesn't seem to match the more avant garde design of the wool cockade. Still, the combination is striking. It will probably go in my permanent collection instead of being augmented, but you never know...

Check out this charming hat I found at a Portland thrift store last month! I thought it was Central Asian, but it turned out to be a Thai child's hat. I'm not sure yet if I'll embellish it or keep it as is, but I love it.
