I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.So many are still struggling post Helene and my heart goes out to them. Even though I lost my business and not sure the future of it, I am thankful that I had the opportunity for the last year to meet more people of the community, thankful to all my vendors, friends, family and customers that welcomed me and showed their support. I miss our little store and hopefully, if it's meant to be, will reopen. Again, thank you all.

Per the Nesbitt Chapel Community Center on Garren Creek Rd: "We currently have winter coats and gear on display...a food pantry, clothing closet, a warm meal, and household/cleaning items anytime we are open. We always have internet at the community center as well.

Our weekly community dinner is for ANYONE that wants to come and enjoy a nice conversation while having a delicious freshly cooked meal. This week it will be on Wednesday 11/13 at 5:30 pm.

With warmer temperatures and little precipitation since Hurricane Helene, drying has occurred across the state. That pattern is expected to continue through November. All of North Carolina is now being considered abnormally dry, with some areas reaching moderate drought. Being attentive and cautious with all outdoor fire remains critical for reducing the potential for wildfires that can spread quickly. Are you checking fire danger in your area before burning outdoors? You should be. We recommend using the fire danger map put out by the North Carolina State Climate Office. I picked up what was left of my stuff from yesterday. It was sad to see what happened to a space that has had a special place in my heart for years. I’ve been vending my creations there since their opening (which I think was either 2016 or 17), and have watched the space grow and change overtime. I never knew what would call to me in there, from unique antiques to handmade creations by local artists.

This is just one other part of a natural disaster that is hard, watching the places you have loved, shopped at, ate at, and more close down. We lost New Moon, Dickies, Rust and Found at the very least. I’m sure we’ll continue to hear of more, and it makes me sad to think these places are just gone.
