Whether it be a t-shirt collection or a life event such as a graduation, baby shower, bridal shower, anniversary celebration or wedding, Mi Chickadee will work with you to create a quilt of memories for you, or someone you love, to use and cherish.

Watch this kid! He is a rising star!

“Do I have to do sashing?” No. It doesn’t increase the size of the quilt. It’s all about what you like. I will never ‘upsell’ to encourage you to add sashing (it’s the fabric strips in between all of the graphics). If you have a lot of shirts that are the same color, sashing visually separates the graphics so each one stands out a bit more. I try to vary the colors of the shirts when I am laying your quilt out, separating same color shirts, but sometimes putting two similarly colored shirts close to each other can’t be avoided. Sashing does help to break up that puddle of color. I hope this helps when you are planning your quilt!

See if you can determine what number this baseball player chose as ‘their number’ 🤣 This quilt represents a lot of travel ball!

I get asked often, “can a variety of materials be included in the quilt?” Yes! T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, warm ups, socks, hats - it all works on one quilt. I treat them all a little differently when I work with the mixed fabrics, but they can all be included- even jerseys with ties or buttons.

“See you in 4 years!” Sometimes parents see the writing on the wall and know that they will have ‘too many’ items in their collection when it comes time to make a grad quilt, so they split the collection when they reach 8th grade. High school activities often ‘produce’ a big collection. Celebrate that graduation from middle school with a ‘kid quilt’! And I’ll be here when they are graduating from high school, so I’ll see you again in 4 years!

Swim!! Summer swim in our little town is a big deal! This quilt has lots of summer swim season shirts, representing an important part of this grad’s life growing up.

Your ‘grad’ quilt doesn’t have to include only high school achievements. It can be a broad collection to represent their life up to graduation. So, throw in those favorite shirts that they wore every day all of 2nd grade, the pajamas they lived in every weekend until they became 4 inches too short, the shirt from that trip to the Grand Canyon in 4th grade, etc. You might get a roll their eyes when they see it on their quilt, but those things hold the memories of life!

I don’t want to come off as a braggart, but I baked 500 cookies last week and 300+ cookies today without burning myself 🤣 (I may have just jinxed myself for next week’s baking, but it had to be posted because normally I burn myself at least once during a 6-10 hour baking session!)
