When I enrolled in fitness classes, I had to painfully give up one of my favourite things to eat: ice cream. 😩😂 and Häagen-Dazs had me on a hook because they’re so good.😊

Before then, you could always catch me eating ice cream every now and then. I loved it!

So, it took a lot of discipline to see it and simply pass. Sometimes, I would literally tell myself, “You can do it.”

And I did.

I went from skipping it for a day, to days, then weeks, and now a whole month.

Honestly, I’m proud of myself. 🥹❤️

It may seem like something small, but I know how much discipline it has taken me to get here.

Sometimes, growth is simply being able to tell yourself, “No, not today. I have a goal.”

And I’m proud that I’m doing it. ✨

For the first time, I didn’t feel guilty for resting.

I was utterly exhausted, and I knew rest was the only thing I needed to be able to continue.

So, I rested.

And I’m happy I gave myself permission to do that. ❤️

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;

When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me. 👇🏼

The words “fast falls the eventide” use evening as a picture of life’s difficult seasons, aging, loss, and eventually death. And the response is simple: “Lord, with me abide.”

There is something deeply comforting about that. The hymn acknowledges that human helpers may fail, circumstances may change, and strength may fade—but the prayer is that God remains when everything else becomes uncertain.

It is essentially saying:

“I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who I want beside me through it.”
