The current climate in America has been very tense between the people. And rightfully so. This country that we all call America, "land of the free & home of the brave" hasn't really upheld its slogan.. Well I guess that's subjective dependent upon the lens in which you view it from..

The black citizens of this country have been under constant pressure to be viewed and treated as equals just like the rest of the citizens who share this nation with us. It has been approximately 100+ years since the slavery "ended" and as little as 50+ years ago when black citizens were finally provided with the right to vote.

Some people have the opinion that we should let go of what we been through in the past and move on.. I guess that's easier said than done if you haven't had the unpleasant privilege to endure a hatred that has plagued this country for almost 250 years.

The Emancipation Proclamation helped free slaves and the 15th Amendment gave black men the right to vote. Yet our black citizens still endured the ever lasting hatred. Segregation, lynchings, false accusations leading to lengthy prison sentences or death and one that is felt to this day- institutional racism.

I'm not sure what sure of which lens you currently view America in, however you have to be blind not to see what's been allowed to go on here in the past 6 years starting with the death of Trayvon Martin and other black citizens up to the current death of George Floyd.

Us black citizens have never left the clasps of the same chains our ancestors wore. The ones America places on each and every black citizen at the time of your birth. I'm not sure if its sheer hatred or fear that's the reason we've remained chained to discrimination, racism, prejudice, and injustice. But what I do know America!! I know that you have your hands full. And the fight isn't going to stop until their is a true UNITED States, a true ONE Nation Under God, INDIVISIBLE and true JUSTICE for All!!
