Over the last few weeks (if not months), I’ve come to the realization that I wasn’t meant to market myself or kismet + sage like every other boutique owner does. Honestly, coming to terms with this has been absolutely freeing. I’ve always known that I wanted to do something different…
Anyone that knows me knows that I’m absolutely NOT the naturally hyper-perky, “HEY GIRLIES ✨” sparkles, rainbows, and sunshine live-video personality. I’ve tried forcing that cheerleader-esque energy before, and it felt exhausting, performative, and completely disconnected from who I actually am. Don’t get me wrong, I WILL be your biggest cheerleader and advocate — just with very little pomp and circumstance.
I think A LOT of women over 40 are tired of feeling like they have to perform too. We’ve lived through things. We’ve seen some things. Loss. Burnout. Abuse. Healing. Starting completely over. We’re finally learning who we are after years of trying to be what everyone else expected. Hell, even what I expected of myself.
That changes you. It changes how you dress. How you speak. How you show up. What you tolerate. What you value. What kind of spaces you want to exist in. Who you want with you in those spaces.
So instead of building my brand around constant noise and algorithm-chasing, I’ve decided that I’d rather build kismet + sage around perspective, style, emotional realism, beauty (and sometimes not), humor, good taste, and connection. Pure authenticity.
Not confetti cannon energy. Sorry if that’s your thing. I’ll totally support you in that.
kismet + sage was never meant to pressure women into becoming some polished, filtered version of themselves. It was meant to remind them they’re still allowed to evolve. Women over 40 are still allowed to take up space. Still allowed to be interesting. Still allowed to want beauty, style, romance, creativity, and self-expression at every age.
I don’t just want kismet + sage to feel like a brand. I want it to feel like a place where women can exhale a little and actually connect. And honestly? The older I get, the less interested I am in building a brand that impresses everyone…and the more interested I am in building one that genuinely means something to the right women. ✨✨✨
