These three granny squares have been sitting in my WIP pile for months… you know how that goes. I finally determined how I wanted to join them last night, and today it all came together. I’m delighted that I didn’t abandon this project - I absolutely love how this bag turned out. Sometimes the pieces just need a little time before they’re ready to become something special.

Shoutout to A Stitch In Time Crocheting for this amazing messy bun beanie tutorial!! I’m hooked!!! Easy, quick and a great way to use up ends of skeins. I made one Friday night…one Saturday night and another one last night! Now I need to start wearing messy buns 😃🤭

A long-running study from the University of Helsinki found that women who regularly engage in traditional “grandma hobbies” such as knitting, sewing, crocheting, and gardening tend to live up to eight years longer on average.
These activities help calm the nervous system by lowering stress and promoting a meditative, focused state through repetitive movement.
They also build confidence by creating a sense of purpose, routine, and visible accomplishment.
Mentally, such hobbies keep the brain active, supporting memory, attention, and cognitive flexibility as women age.
Together, these effects show that simple, creative pastimes can be deeply therapeutic, emotionally grounding, and beneficial for long-term health.

You’ve created some absolutely gorgeous balaclavas and shared thoughtful feedback that’s helping me make this pattern the best it can be. I’m putting the final touches on tweaks and photo layout now, and I’m aiming to release the Balaclava pattern in early September.
