Oct. 12: Monster House(2006)
Three teens discover that their neighbor's house is really a living, breathing, scary monster.

Monster House is a CG animated kid friendly horror film brought to us by Steven Spielberg (produced). It just bleeds that classic Spielberg feel of a small suburban neighborhood with extraordinary happenings. It takes place on and around Halloween and can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. I was honestly surprised by how much I liked this. Silly silly, fun fun.

Oct. 11: The Last Exorcism(2010)
A troubled evangelical minister agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documentary crew.

This is by far one of the best found footage movies out there. The minister is someone you can relate to and he is funny and extremely entertaining to watch. It is not as scary or creepy as say, The Exorcist but it does have some unsettling moments. The ending to this movie is pretty bananas as well.

31 Days of Halloween

Oct. 10: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
After being mortally wounded and taken to the morgue, murderer Jason Voorhees spontaneously revives and embarks on a killing spree as he makes his way back to his home at Crystal Lake.

Arguably the finest of the series, Part 4 improves upon the three before it and creates a damn fine slasher. This has Jason at his angriest and features some of the bloodiest kills in the entire series. Scares, blood, b***s, and Cripsin Glover doing a hilarious dance = a blast. It also has Corey Feldman in it, cmon now.

Oct. 9: Trilogy of Terror (1975)
Three bizarre horror stories all of which star Karen Black in four different roles playing tormented women. This movie used to give me the creeps. In the one story with the crazy doll, it gave me nightmares for years. I still haven't recovered. Watch the preview and you will know what I mean. Also, that story can be viewed on YouTube in 3 parts.

Oct. 8: Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)
After a misunderstanding, Ernest P. Worrell unleashes an evil troll on Halloween.

Taking it down a notch today with something family friendly. Most of us born in the 80's are familiar with Ernest in one way or another. To me he is an icon of that era and really gets the nostalgia going when i watch his movies. Scared Stupid has the classic Ernest slapstick humor mixed with a cheesy horror movie. The creature effects on the trolls is incredible and is a lot of fun to look at. If you haven't seen this since you were a kid, give it a watch. It will make you feel good.

The opening credits from Jim Varney's "Ernest Scared Stupid". I always loved this movie as a kid and the music and opening video is what really did it for me...

Oct. 7: The Funhouse (1981)
Four teenage friends spent the night in a carnival funhouse and are stalked by a deformed man in a Frankenstein mask.

This was directed Tobe Hooper (creator of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and is one of the better slasher films of the early 80s. Cmon, I mean it takes place in a fu***ng FUNHOUSE!!! Who doesn't love that? A funhouse with a deformed guy in an awkward mask killing teenagers. Golden, just golden.

Oct. 6: Halloween III: Season of the Witch
The Halloween movie that doesn't have Michael Myers. Instead, a large Halloween mask-making company has plans to kill millions of American children with something sinister hidden in Halloween masks as a doctor races against time to stop them. Don't listen to the trolls, this is a great, EXTREMELY under appreciated movie. Its creepy, gory, fun, and has a fantastic synth score. Must see!
