Buy the ribbon.
I have seen these ribbons in an Etsy store for years - like 8 years!
I fell in love at first sight but I did not press go. They were pricy. Very much so for a yard of ribbon. So I always swooned and walked away.
Yesterday I was back on Etsy looking for food charts to support new things I recently learned about my health and one of these ribbons showed up to lure my attention away from some of the semi-anxiousness I was feeling.
I happily followed the lead and went down the rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳️ 😍
…
And now days I hold a full time job. (As well as a hat interest)
And I thought… wow these are so beautiful and I really do love them.
Not only that but I have loved them for years.
And each ribbon had only a few yards left.
I gingerly put the minimum in my cart. A pretty big step for eight years of desire.
And it wasn’t a small purchase. But before I hit go I went back and put all the yards they had in my cart.
I looked at that price. It was more but was it? Well, yes it was but the love factor… did it cost that much more to own something I love?
No. The answer is no.
…
But then I felt practical and I thought about those messages Etsy always has - only 2 left and in 1 persons cart. 🙄 And I thought about that person. Will they be devastated if I buy it all?
And then I thought about me.
I was that person before and we know if we don’t buy it - someone else will. ⬅️
Then I thought (again practically) - if I make a gorgeous little micro collection with these ribbons will it sell?
I mean truth is I made a gorgeous collection of straw hats this year and I was the one who bought them. (Well, half. I took half 😉.) The other half are in my shop.
So I lost some confidence and felt a wave of “why bother” meanwhile staring at these ribbons.
Glory! I love them.
A a a creator I wanted to play with them. Make beautiful heirloom cocktail hats with them.
I went back and forth for an hour over this.
- where will I wear these in Southern Arizona? Im already a little extreme for most over here. Add this on my head and then what?!
