Anubha Srivastav is a San Francisco based Fashion Designer who showcased her autumn/winter ‘13 collection in the San Francisco Fashion Week along with exhibiting her work at various other esteemed places. Apart from having a creative perspective for fashion clothing and a never-ending zeal for unconventional design, she has made a mark with her distinctive and unique handspun, hand-woven, eco-frie
ndly fabric, Khadi. Her individualistic and statement clothing for chic corporate wear gives everyone the possibility to find their own style. She believes in creating something new every moment and supported by her clothing line every woman wearing her design can intuitively understand this expression. Her collection is a combination of classic, clean silhouettes and striking bold colors of smart and classy corporate wear. From having a collection of wearable and colorful corporate jackets, she has given a new and distinctive look to trench coats, which has become her signature style. She started her own label "A by Anubha" in October 2012 which exudes a certain femininity, timelessness, and style. It was launched with a vision to create nifty, commercially viable and individualistic unconventional clothing. She showcased her first autumn/winter collection in October 2012 at Hauz Khas Village, a fashion hub in New Delhi. After getting a wonderful response from the fashion critiques of New Delhi she has been even more motivated for creating unique, comfortable and sustainable pieces using authentic handcrafted fabric. She has been providing her garments to Gotham City Studio, a Los Angeles based firm which supplies clothing to various sitcom of America. Furthermore, she has had diverse work experience in the field of fashion both in the USA and India. In 2010, she completed a 2 months internship at Donna Karan International, New York where she assisted the design cell coordinator in the collection line during the resort wear 2010 fashion show, photo shoot and the market week. This internship has been the stepping-stone in her life, which opened her to the insights of the fashion industry and gave her the opportunity to learn from one of the most influential people of the fashion world, Donna Karan. Anubha also worked as an Assistant Designer with a leading and renowned designer in India, Ritu Beri. She worked closely with Ritu Beri through her spring/summer 2012 exhibit and successfully managed a children's fashion show which exhibited garments of various genres for kids. She has designed uniforms for the employees of several high-end hotels in India such as the Taj, the Hyatt and the Oberoi.
‘A’ by Anubha is a ‘Khadi' oriented brand. Khadi being an integral part and emblem of India's freedom struggle, it is a handspun, hand-woven, eco-friendly fabric with a distinct texture. While made mostly with pure cotton, it can also be woven using silk, wool or a combination of fibers. The best-known quality of Khadi is its versatility- its unique ability to keep you cool during summers and warm during winters. Anubha through her label wants to showcase smart, crisp jackets made of Khadi and other hand-made fibers for both men and women for all occasions. She believes in using the purest form of fabric and keeping it organic and this is the foundation of her label "A by Anubha". Strongly believing in the statement which she said, "gone are the days when a formal jacket could only be worn to work meetings or when black, white, and grey were the only colors that offered a professional look", she has created a colorful, vibrant yet an impressive collection. Her color philosophy to use both bold and pastel colors depending on the season, is what makes it completely wearable to any occasion. Each piece is designed keeping in mind its utility and ability to remain in vogue. Her goal is to bring styles such as 'Bandh-gala' (mandarin collar), traditionally dominant in male clothing, to the female collection line as well due to its sharp and crisp cuts. These cuts are inspired by styles found in the pre-independence era in India while the detailing is modern, allowing for the perfect blend of old and new, the East and the West. Her vision expresses the fusion of fine art and fashion, an exciting high-end fashion commercial perspective. She believes this approach comes through as innovative. Her creative force is her imagination. She believes "it’s a lifestyle: we live it, so let’s wear it!" By creating strong relations between fine style and intricate detailing, her vision is hitting the streets soon. Her creative talents are a mix bag of sketching, photography, painting and fashion.
