Ed Kemper (the co-ed killer) + The Simpsons =
MURDER IS NOT ART

Kemper killed his grandparents at 15, college students after getting out of juvenile detention, hung out at bars with police to see what information they had and killed his mother. He was not caught, he turned himself in. He stood 6’9” tall and was an opposing figure.

Monday, May 15 I will be releasing the first piece from my series MURDER IS NOT ART. Come check it out.

Serial killers and mass murders have been around since human kind came to be. With that has come the fascination about these killers from the public. Whether it’s because of the inability to understand the mindset of these people, to see how evil a person can be, or to scare themselves knowing people like that are out there. Over the decades, especially since the invention of the television these killers have been easily seen on a regular basis. Getting coverage sometimes while their crimes are going on, at their arrest, at their trial and even after the are in prison. As time goes on these people slowly start to not be monsters but characters. Hearing them in interviews, seeing countless documentaries on them, fictionalized television series, blogs and podcasts telling their story over and over. Each time diluting their crimes and turning these horrible people into tragic figures, television sitcom characters and even cartoon character versions of themselves.

This art series I am releasing shows how far this diluting has gone. Turning these killers from monsters to harmless cartoons and we as a culture are just waiting to turn the next killer with a story into a pop culture icon.
