I was a little nervous about Angels Landing.

Then I met Bern.

At 69 years old, he was out there tackling the same hike, keeping pace, and honestly out hiking me at times. 😅

What started as nerves quickly turned into admiration. He made the climb look easy and reminded me that adventure doesn’t have an expiration date.

One of the coolest parts of this trip wasn’t the view from the top. It was meeting someone who inspired me along the way. ❤️

This is what hiking down Angels Landing actually looks like.

Everyone talks about the climb up, but going down was the part that got me. The exposure feels different, every step feels bigger, and there’s no hiding how high up you really are. I was definitely nervous, but making it to the top and back down was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

If a 69 year old in our group could do it, I had no excuses. 😅

Would I do it again? Absolutely.

I spent so much time worrying about this hike before we got to Zion. The heights, the chains, the stories you hear online. But standing at the top of Angels Landing made every nervous step worth it.

Sometimes the things that scare you the most end up being the experiences you remember forever. 💛

If you’ve ever thought about doing Angels Landing, this is your sign to stop doubting yourself and go for it. The views are unreal, the accomplishment feels even better, and you’ll walk away with a whole new level of confidence.

📍Angels Landing, Zion National Park, Utah. The hike is about 5.4 miles round trip with roughly 1,500 feet of elevation gain and requires a permit beyond Scout Lookout.

When we started this hike, one of the people in our group was 69 years old.

Watching Bern make his way up Angels Landing was all the reminder I needed that age is just a number. He tackled the switchbacks, held onto the chains, pushed through the tough sections, and made it to the top right alongside the rest of us.

It’s easy to tell yourself you’re too old, too out of shape, too scared, or that you’ll do it someday. Bern showed us that someday is today.

If a 69 year old can take on Angels Landing, maybe we’re all capable of a little more than we think. 💛

If you’re visiting St. George and want to rent a Bronco or looking for something fun to do. I can’t recommend Black Rock Rentals enough. We rented one of their Broncos for the second time, and it was just as awesome as the first, with road side pick up and drop off. I wouldn’t rent from anyone else! Nate is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet and his level of communication and commitment to making sure you have everything you need is unmatched!!! I have them tagged in this post. Absolutely check them out!!!!

There is something about taking the top off, exploring the red rocks, and seeing Southern Utah from a completely different perspective. The Bronco handled everything we threw at it and made the adventure that much more memorable.

Already planning our next trip back!!!!!!
