Hollow Horn Bear (Lakota, Matȟó Héȟloǧeča; March 1850 – March 15, 1913) was a Brulé Lakota chief. He fought in many of the battles of the Sioux Wars, including the Battle of Little Big Horn.

Later, while serving as police chief of the Rosebud Indian Reservation, he arrested Crow Dog for the murder of Spotted Tail, and later testified in the case of Ex parte Crow Dog, argued before the Supreme Court of the United States. He was the chief Speaker and negotiator for the Lakota, making multiple trips to Washington, D.C. to advocate on their behalf. He later took part in the inaugural parades for both presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. He died of pneumonia in Washington in 1913 after the last of these trips.

My great grandmother would tell me a story about the new people coming to the earth as the eighth fire begins the burning of everything, so the earth will be clean again.
The new people are the ahjahkoosin anishiniwuk (spirit people) and they will come like rainbows across the sky and to the land.
She said they will heal the land. All that was there will become a past and no one will remember.
She also said that our bodies will become the soil and our souls will return from whence we came on that first day, when the earth was made by Creator.
She said that our days are counted and the earth will begin a change of time and a change of seasons.
Lights will come from the sky in many colors. Those are the new people coming to seek the holy people, who were here before. Many have already gone home and it is empty now.
The earth and fire will become one. The wind and water will become one and a change will come as the new people arrive in their stone canoes.
Thunder beings will sing and their drums will shake the land. Their eyes will become like fire of white and blue across the sky world (keejikeesic).
Many will be frightened and try to hide, but they will be found. Their tongues will be burned and they will be healed to sing again, to return back home to the sky world (keejikeesic koo).
This Is what I remember from listening to the stories of my great grandmother.

In Your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust all Native Sisters missing and murdered.
In this life You embraced them with Your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them eternal rest.
The old order has passed away:
welcome them into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,
but fullness of peace and joy
with Your Son and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever.
Creator wrap Your loving arms around all the relatives who are grieving the loss of their loved ones! We pray in Jesus' name! A'ho! AMEN!
THE 'RED HAND' REPRESENTS THE VOICES SILENCED OF THE NATIVE WOMEN MISSING AND MURDERED. LET'S PRAY FOR THEIR SPIRITS/SOULS TO REST IN PEACE >A'HO
