Dunbar
He came out of South Dakota worn down and half forgotten.
A 7-3/8 Stetson Buffalo felt in the color Stone.
When I got him, Dunbar was tired.
He had shrunk nearly a full size. His brim was warped, stained from years of honest use.
So I brought him back.
I removed the sweatband and opened the crown back up on a block, then ironed the brim flat again.
Sanded out the worst of the stains, but not all of them. A hat like this deserves to keep a few lines of its story.
Now Dunbar’s sharp again. Clean. Ready.
Back to a 7-3/8.
Still wearing the chapters of his past.

Vintage Wrangler Quarter Horse 3X felt — $115

Originally built in the 80’s with factory red eyelets.
Found in an auction in Tulsa after it's first chapter closed and reprofiled into something far more deliberate for his next chapter.
The stock Quarter Horse crown has been pushed into a Walker crown with a front mule kick.
Wide CHL brim with a cupped taco in the rear for a stronger, more intentional profile.
This is not a casual cowboy hat.
Kace is a strong hat for a cowpuncher that wants to stand out.
Finished with a red hat band and guineafowl feather to tie into the original liner and eyelets.

Silas didn’t know what he wanted to be when he left the factory.
He just knew he wasn’t meant to hang forgotten in a closet.
He thought his chance was over when he was donated in Llano, Texas.
A fine premium wool felt, Silas was made for sun — not silence.
He was taken back to open form, sanded to lift the marks of his past, and reblocked to restore his structure.
Finished with a new ribbon and a hand-shaped custom crown, Silas now carries a profile that won’t be found on any rack.
A light neutral felt makes him an easy year-round wear — especially as we move toward spring.
This is a refurbished hat and still carries some minor character on the underside from its previous life. Structurally sound and ready for the next chapter.

This was an open crown resistol I found new in a Western Store. I shaped the brim and crown And replaced the hat band.
