Tomorrow - Sept. 5th from 12-3pm - catch me slinging tie dye during the downtown Jackson Art Walk! 🎉 I’ll be hanging with my Art 634 peeps in the alley by Found Church.

I’ll have a smaller selection of stock than last weekend.
Tees, bandanas, socks & a discount on 2 or more tees!

This art walk is celebrating Bright Walls so make sure you give yourself some time to walk along the Bright Walls path and check out the fresh restored mural by Emily Ding on the side of Jackson School of the Arts! Maps of the murals and their placement around downtown will be available.

Also… free parking downtown all weekend! Come hang out and enjoy the great things we have in our little downtown. 🏙️ 💟

Summer transitioning into Autumn color palette now loading……

For the month of September, I will have a collection of tapestries on display and for sale at Sandhill Crane Vineyards in Jackson, MI. This isn’t the first time I’ve displayed my art at this woman owned local business, but it’s always a pleasure to do so.

Super grateful, super tired, super reminded of why I love what I do and the local and greater community surrounding it all. Eclectic music, a host who does the most, friendly and hilarious vendors, stellar food and venue… Art Pop will forever be my favorite event to vend at in Jackson. Thanks for showing us weird creative folks that you value what we bring into this world. See ya next year art poppers 🎉

As always, I took no photographs. I left with at least a third less of what I brought in stock, though. Catch me at the downtown Jackson Art Walk next Saturday (12-3pm) to browse what’s left before I hole up and recalibrate for the holiday season 💗🖤💗

Results & happy students from last Saturday’s Marigold dyeing workshops in my studio at Art 634! 🌼 We learned about the importance of scouring & mordanting your fibers before dyeing them, showed off what two different mordanting techniques on cellulose fibers will produce, and played with some iron to help modify the yellow & golden colors to olive green & a beautiful brown (mordant dependent)! 💛🧡💚🤎

Each student was so engaged and curious, I just love the energy of these classes and am so grateful to be in a place where I can share this amazing craft.

Less than two weeks away from my favorite Jackson event… ART POP! Join is for an amazing lineup of local artists & bands on Saturday, August 29th from 11am-9pm in The Hollow, aka Ogma Brewing Company’s beer garden in downtown Jackson!🖤 THE HOLLOW AT OGMA Ogma Brewing Co.

I’m always honored to be a part of this event! This year I’ll be vending and supplying a very limited amount of tie dyed merch in collaboration with the logo artist this year - Audra Olivia. 🦕 Ya’ll are gonna love this one, but you may have to wait until the event to see it! Photos in this post are from previous years of ART POP*** (except for flyer)

Shout out to Cody James Lockwood who curates and runs this whole thing! He treats us all like royalty, making sure bands get paid, artists get to vend for free, and the event is free to the public… all through sponsorship, raffle tickets & VIP tickets! Next chance to join me in my studio for a workshop is next Saturday, August 22nd to learn about creating color & dyeing fabric with Marigolds!

Marigolds are such an abundant plant to work with to create color. In this workshop, we will use the flower heads of these plants to create a stunnning golden color. We will learn about the mordanting process and options for variations in color with modifiers. Each participant will get 2 bandanas to work with a variety of shibori resist methods.

Two sessions, 11am (2 spots left) & 3pm (3 spots left), each session is 2-3 hours long. They are already filling up and I’ve had a lot of interest without even really advertising it yet - so if you want to join I recommend registering today!
