This reminds me a bit of We Are The World. But this is even more powerful and hopeful in these time because what we need more than anything is to come together in love and care for humanity, not be divided by hate, violence and lies.

Great insight on color by a local great!

Color: The Silent Salesperson 🎨

Color is more than what we see — it’s what we feel. It influences our choices, shapes our surroundings, and speaks to us long before words ever do. From sparking emotional responses to defining a brand’s identity, color quietly persuades and connects on a deeply human level.

Cool tones build trust and calm. Warm hues excite and draw us in. Neutrals bring sophistication, and black whispers luxury. In every field — from fashion to branding — color is the “silent salesperson,” communicating meaning in milliseconds.

For me, exploring color has always been both passion and discovery. Each book I’ve written deepens that journey — uncovering how color moves us, inspires us, and tells our stories.

Please join us on May 3rd to help raise funds for CRMO research! This fundraiser benefits kids like our 12 year old daughter, Cora, who was diagnosed with CRMO when she was 9. CRMO is an autoinflammatory disease that causes the immune system to attack healthy bones. It often gets misdiagnosed as growing pains, and can show up long bones of the body, the spine, or any bones. Flares can come and go and are painful and sometimes debilitating. Cora is on her 3rd bisphosphonate infusion in order to strengthen her bones, and she is championing through them.
If you cannot attend, check out the awesome online auction, or donate to our CRMO Warriors Guild directly. At the very least, please look into CRMO and spread the word about it so more kids can get diagnosed sooner and a diagnostic standard and successful treatments can be reached!

I have volunteered for the YWCA through Dress For Success Seattle and have learned so much from their luncheon speakers, and most of all, their commitment to stand against racism. This free event can be streamed from home and is intended to inform and empower. Please pass this along and attend with me!

One of my favorite skin care brands is offering 20% everything until the 20th!
I love things that make sense and builds off what our ancestors knew and practiced, like using oils to pull oil and dirt from your skin. You’ll get a free peptide serum with a 75$ purchase as well!
My favs are the lip whips, cleansing oil, Vit C serum, peptide serum, and tinted spf. Happy glowing!

Natural, clean, and organic skincare that truly nourishes and hydrates skin. Poured by hand in small batches, we are cruelty-free and 100% plastic free.

There are some overlapping themes in this post on farming and my last post on fast fashion. Artist and activist Minkah Taharkah talks about how “tending the land” focuses on quality soil and quality of of life, whereas “farmwork” in most of the world tends to be about producing as much as quickly as possible without regard for the workers.

Minkah Taharkah is an artist, poet, farmer, and organizer. While a student at UC Berkeley, she co-founded Black Earth Farms to provide herself and the the local community with healthy, affordable food. She now works for the California Farmer Justice Collaborative, supporting farmers and farmworkers....

So many of my clients ask why most clothes are lower quality now. This is worth the watch and answers more than this question. How would change the way you dress and shop after learning from this video?

Quit Fast Fashion! Ever wonder how you can make better choices for the environment with your clothes?
This article has so many resources and data that help you and your kids understand where your clothes come from and its carbon footprint. (Ex. Washing synthetic clothing like polyester contributes to an estimated 35% of microplastics in our oceans.) Please share any resources you have or thrift shops you enjoy!

TikTok ‘haul’ videos promote cool clothes—but children likely aren’t aware that the content could be impacting the planet.

One way we vote is how we spend our money. We don’t have to dig very deep to learn the truth; we just need to ask the questions. Many of us grew up where it wasn’t safe to question authority, religion, long held customs, or ideas. Especially if you were a girl, woman, person of color, immigrant or marginalized in any way. When we did ask why or how, we were often gaslighted or given blanket answers that didn’t help our understanding. In fact, it either made us stop asking questions (a way to ensure things don’t ever change) or it turned us into trouble makers (hopefully good trouble:). Regardless, we all have that curiosity bubbling inside of us. In today’s political climate, I urge us all to be curious, question the root of things, history, and who is behind what we see or buy. Have an eye for equity and notice what is missing. Take heart in what we do have and those who have paved the way.

I appreciate writing that awakens me to where my money is going and what causes I am really supporting through supporting a company or product with my purchase.
After reading this article, I will question the next time I see a product that seemingly supports LGBTQ+ rights or empowers girls, women, or people of color: do the owners support politicians who are for or against those causes? If they aren’t aligned with your values, stop supporting them, even if it disrupts your convenience or you need to get essentials elsewhere.

Major beauty retailers are financially supporting anti-queer legislation.
