ArenaTilton

ArenaTilton ArenaTilton is dedicated to inspiring the world to BATTLE through life's challenges. Over the years, it evolved into an annual golf event, pitting TeamArena vs.

ArenaTilton began in 1988 as a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Kennebunk, Maine. TeamTilton, which represents an annual celebration of our mission to spread our BATTLE anthem, and inspire the world to battle through adversity in life. Our BATTLE t-shirts are worn around the world and, for every BATTLE t-shirt that we sell, it helps our 501c3 non-profit organization produce and distribute even more

shirts to those in need of a boost. We are a grass roots organization and our followers are our voice. The spirit of BATTLE lives within each of us, but the collective force of our ArenaTilton community will hopefully make a tremendous impact in our own lives, and the lives of others. We hope you will join our movement, wear your BATTLE t-shirt proudly, send in your BATTLE pictures, BATTLE stories, and BATTLE inspiration, and help us change lives.

FAREWELL ANNOUNCEMENT

To all of our Soldiers, Supporters, Donors, Family, and Friends,

It has been more than 25 years since we launched our first-ever ArenaTilton event back in 1988 on the playgrounds of Park Street in Kennebunk, Maine. During our time, we have held 7 basketball tournaments, 14 golf events, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity, and distributed thousands of t-shirts hoping to inspire others to battle through life’s challenges. We have had a great run, spanning more than half of our lives.

For years, the two of us agreed to walk away if and when the time felt right – without regret. This past year gave us an opportunity to reflect on our past and look ahead to our futures. With family, work, and personal priorities evolving, we came to the realization that now was our time. So it is with mixed emotions that we announce today that we have made the difficult decision to retire ArenaTilton.

Although the organization and our events will retire, the battle in each of us continues. And we hope the residual value of our battle anthem stays with all of you for many years to come. Personally, ArenaTilton has proven to be far more than we ever imagined it could be – more than just an event and more than just a charity. We never thought that this one small idea from our childhood would come to shape who we are as adults, fathers, husbands, friends, and colleagues. We are grateful that ArenaTilton has been a cornerstone in the foundation of our lives.

We have closed the doors on our 501c3 status, turned off the lights a long time ago on our basketball event, and now the sun has set on our golf tournament. But what will remain are the lasting memories from hoops games that inspired our first use of the word “battle,” to the many golf events that felt bigger than the Ryder Cup itself, to great people who have impacted us with their stories of perseverance and triumph in the face of adversity.

Over 25 years, our lives have been deeply impacted by the more than 500 athletes who have participated, and the countless people who have donated to, or sacrificed for, our cause. To all of you, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You were what made ArenaTilton special and we are truly grateful.

BATTLE,
Christopher and Nathaniel

On Saturday, October 18th, TeamArena and the entire ArenaTilton family lost one of our most dedicated soldiers. Bob George (father of Greg George, Susan Arena and Lisa Cook) died after a long battle with cancer. Bob was part of three TeamArena championship teams. He loved the event and supported our cause year after year. He battled to the end but, sometimes, we have to move on when a battle can't be won. We know Bob will be giving us all support from above (and hopefully throwing some of our wild tee shots back into play!). Please think of Bob and his family and wear your BATTLE shirt this week in honor of him. We will be making a donation of shirts on behalf of Bob to local NJ urological practices. As always, support of ArenaTilton can be shown through the purchase of t-shirts via arenatilton.org.

Today marks 10 years to the day since the loss of a father, friend, and Cup of Famer, Phil Tilton, just hours after our event's awards ceremonies in 2004. His spirit has lived on in so many ways, including through the Philip H. Tilton Most Improved ArenaTilton Golfer Award, affectionately known as "The Papa." We still miss you very much, dad.

We are proud to announce that Ellen Noble is our 2014 scholarship recipient. Ellen will be attending UMass Amherst in the fall with a $2,000 boost from ArenaTilton.

Not only is Ellen an outstanding competitive cyclocross rider, but she was just revealed as the anonymous source behind the Twitter account , in which she praised fellow classmates throughout the school year.

Interestingly, we found this out AFTER selecting her as our recipient, which only confirmed and reinforced our selection!

Congratulations Ellen!

We've made our selection for the 2014 Kennebunk High School scholarship recipient and will announce our winner on June 13th (Class Night). The $2,000 scholarship is going to an amazing applicant with an outstanding BATTLE story, and we're very excited about helping them progress as a student-athlete in college. Stay tuned!
