In need of a last minute Christmas present for that special lady in your life? Swing by the Four Sixes Supply House! They currently have two of our “Quanah” style purses made right here on the Four Sixes ranch by my husband and me! All of our purses tell a story not only of the detailed craftsmanship that went into each one, but of the cowboy who works long days on the ranch, and then sits down at a leather bench in the evenings (and on weekends) to put his skills to creative use, all to help support his family. No imported piece from India or China can tell a story like THAT! 😉

We use the highest quality chap leather we can find when making our purses. None of our materials are cheap or low quality-imported, and each piece has taken us many, many hours to construct. Will has been tooling for over 20 years, and like any art, it takes talent and time to truly develop that skill. (No machine can emulate it!) We put our maker’s mark or tag on every product we make, because we stand behind each one-of-a-kind item. Swipe through the pics to see all the details, like handmade piping, an outside pocket, expensive, high quality zippers, buttery soft leather, Will’s beautiful tooling on one side and gorgeous Pendleton wool on the other side, and even lined interiors with pockets made from custom Four Sixes fabric! And did I mention the colors? Deepest, darkest black leather on one and burgundy Merlot wine leather on the other. 🤤 You won’t find another two purses out there like these! Feel free to DM me with any questions or call the Four Sixes Supply House. Click the link in the bio to purchase straight from the Supply House as well. Merry Christmas, y’all!

In need of a Christmas present for the cook in your life? These Pendleton wool hot pads handmade by me, (Marissa), are available! Each hot pad has a corresponding cotton canvas print on the reverse side. As you swipe through the pictures, the Pendleton wool side for each set of hot pads is shown first, then the cotton canvas back for that same set. These would make excellent stocking stuffers as well! Please message me for pricing and details! I still have time to make a handful of custom orders before Christmas too, if you message me asap. Also, you don’t have to buy a matching set! Mix and match or only buy one, whatever makes ya happy! 😄

Just a few boots Will’s made! He creates all of his own stitch patterns, and spends hours and hours making each pair. Not one thing is done with a computer or machine—other than a sewing machine, of course! Each step is tedious and time consuming, and if one little mistake is made, it can often mean having to redo hours of work. (He recently started over on tops he’d put over 20 hours in because he wasn’t happy with one aspect of them.) Will’s perfectionistic personality, mean that your item, whether it’s a pair of boots, a purse, or chaps, have had the utmost attention to detail and quality put into their creation. In a world where nearly everything is made cheap and in a hurry, we still do things the old fashioned way—because we believe quality matters.

For those of you who don’t know, leather work is Will’s second job. His first is that of a full time cowboy here on the Four Sixes ranch. Will and I live way out on the ranch (12 miles of caliche road) at what’s called “South Camp”. The word “camp” is used to describe an allotment of land assigned to the cowboy’s care, plus a house, barn, etc, where we live. I won’t tell you the exact acreage Will’s responsible for, but I will say the largest of his 4 pastures is 14,235 acres. These 4 pastures are extremely beautiful with draws and canyons, but the elevation changes make the country pretty rough & difficult in places. Outside of spring and fall works (branding and weaning seasons when the entire ranch is gathered & worked as a crew), Will spends his days throwing out mineral, spraying mesquite, fixing fences, welding areas when he needs to, checking cattle, roping/doctoring calves, riding, training, & shoeing horses, & when it rains, making sure his water gaps are not down. (Water gaps are places in the fence designed to give or “break” when rushing water pushes through carrying debris. This keeps the fence from constantly breaking worse, & keeps debris from building up, but it means these areas have to be checked & fixed promptly to prevent cattle from crossing over them.) Will works hard on the ranch every day, & then comes home and applies that same work ethic to our leather business. I hope this has given y’all a glimpse of our lives here, & hopefully helps explain why sometimes your orders might take awhile (thanks for your patience!) Leather work done the right way is a slow and tedious process, but Will strives for excellence in each product so not only can you be proud of your item, but so it will last you a lifetime. And bonus, you can tell the story of the real Texas cowboy who made it. 😄

Fun fact for all of you Yellowstone fans, if you want to see a glimpse of South Camp, go back and watch Season 4 episode 6. That’s really our bunkhouse where Jimmy “stayed” (our leather shop in real life), and our house/kitchen table where Will told Jimmy to “take your hat off.” 🤣 And the scenes where they’re trotting are really here at South Camp.

Will’s latest pair of boots! I know we haven’t posted in a while, but by no means has the work stopped around here. Will’s been busy with his main job, ranchin’, and in his off time, has been making as many pairs of boots and chaps as he can! I’ll do my best to post more of his work this week. Happy Sunday, y’all!

Picture this: you walking into the holiday party wearing your little black dress, with this black and white purse on your arm, and these black and white boots on your pretty little feet! Umm, talk about a SHOW STOPPER moment! 😍💃🏻

Both of these pieces have been thoughtfully and carefully constructed by us, Boedeker Leather, one meticulous step at a time! If you haven’t already, check out some of the prior videos I’ve posted of Will constructing these inlayed boot tops! Both purse and boots have over 100 hours of work combined! We believe that quality matters, and we guarantee that you’ll proudly be a wearin’ and a carryin’ these two for years to come!

They’ll fit a size 7 or 7.5 in ladies most comfortably. (If a little big, just add an insole, and voila!)

****Clutch is sold!!****
Are you looking for a unique and beautiful Christmas present for that special someone? (Ahem, yourself! 😉)
We have these three items available for sale now!! The first is a clutch we made awhile back, and it was accidentally leaned against a tooled piece that wasn’t quite dry. There’s a little bit of dye on the back (swipe to see) and though it’s hardly noticeable, we have discounted this purse! It does not have the Four Sixes brand on it, so please message me directly if you’re interested! Now is your chance to own a Boedeker Leather purse for a great price!! 😉

The next two items are from my personal collection of turquoise jewelry and though I hate to see them go, I just do not wear them enough. Such beautiful pieces deserved to be worn often! Both pieces are by Chatfield’s jewelry. If you’re familiar with them, you know they only use the highest quality stones and silver to make their jewelry! The stones on the cuff are high grade pilot rock turquoise and it will fit a 6 3/8” wrist. The pendant is puffy Royston turquoise, and is absolutely stunning!

Please message me for prices and any questions on any of the pieces! 😄

Happy small business, Saturday, y’all! If you’re following along from yesterday, here’s a video of one of the final steps on these inlayed boot tops before Will sews the two halves together.

Once skiving is complete, Will then sandwiches in the white inlay leather between the black top layer and an orthopedic liner leather. To hold all of this together, everything must be meticulously and carefully sewn down. Once again, there’s no room for error, and he makes it look easy, but as all of you who operate sewing machines know (especially old Singer machines), there’s definitely a learning curve. ☺️

Fun fact for those who don’t know, boot tops are carefully sewn together inside out (with piping sandwiched between them), and then carefully flipped right side out. This is so the seam doesn’t show and it all looks like one three dimensional piece.

One more fun fact- these are literally ONE of kind and are available for sale in the Four Sixes Supply House! We only have two pairs of boots left that are ready to take home—these, and one pair of men’s boots. Stop by the Supply House to try them on, and sink your foot into pure bliss! 😉

In this day and age of instant gratification and cheaply made products, it’s nice to know there are still people (like handmade boot makers), out there doing things the old fashioned way. Yes, it’s A LOT slower and more expensive, but the products are worth it and last WAY longer. Here’s Will doing just that: building a pair of inlayed boot tops.
First, he designs and then draws a pattern, which takes a lot of time and thought.
Next, he carefully cuts out that pattern one line at a time. You’d think he’d be pretty much done after it’s all cut out, right? NOPE!
He then has to painstakingly skive every single edge so that when the inlayed leather (in this case the white leather) is placed behind his pattern, there is no excessive bulk. The desire of a bookmaker making a pair of inlayed tops, is for those tops to feel like one piece of leather. Optimally, you don’t want to feel multiple thicknesses of leather. That’s the reason Will skives down all of these edges, so that everything will lay down flat and smooth.
He makes it look easy, but it’s actually very tricky! He has to skive deep enough to “thin down” the leather, but doesn’t want to skive too deep or he’ll cut right through it. If that happens, there’s no way to fix it, (no redo buttons in leather work!) and he has to start all over!

Also, did I mention that he does these steps FOUR times? Each boot has two top halves: a front and a back, so each one of the four halves is done by hand, one at a time, as shown in this video. These particular tops each took him 5 hours to do for a total of 20 hours- just in the tops alone! 🤯 I’ll show the next steps after skiving in another video, but I hope you can start to see just how tedious and time consuming building inlayed boot tops are. (There are no computers or lasers to cut out the pattern around here.)
It’s all done by hand the old fashioned way…the only way we’d have it. 😉
